The sector employs more than 270 thousand people across more than 60 thousand mostly small business. Occupations within the automotive industry are covered by thirty two separate occupational groups which are determined by the training package that covers the breadth of the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Industry including Automotive Management, Automotive Mechanical (light and heavy), Electrician, vehicle body builder, panel beater, spray painter, trimmer, retail sales, service station attendant and vehicle parts and accessory fitter.
