National Reconciliation Week 2026 at Wesley has been a remarkable time of listening, learning and action.

This year’s theme ‘All In’ was embraced by students across all three campuses.

Every student at the Glen Waverley Campus walked for shared understanding, respect and reconciliation at our Little Long Walk and made a lasting impact by planting Indigenous plants on the Williams Oval.

Elsternwick Campus welcomed Willie Pepper, traditional owner and cultural Elder from the Boonwurrung Land and Sea Council, who worked with students at Reconciliation Chapel and in workshops, helping them to understand the value of Acknowledgement of Country, and creating their own.

At St Kilda Road Campus, students explored the Boon Wurrung six-season calendar, participated in cultural hunting games and listened with respect and curiosity to their guest speakers.

Throughout the week, we welcomed incredible visitors: Jack Peris from the Michael Long Foundation, Children’s Ground, the Treaty Authority and Reconciliation Victoria and Aunty Joy Murphy.

Students also raised funds for Children’s Ground, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and the Michael Long Foundation.

Eden, Wesmob Prefect at St Kilda Road Campus, captures the spirit of the week beautifully: ‘Reconciliation Week asks all Australians to move beyond symbolic gestures and towards a genuine curiosity, honesty and willingness to listen.’ This year, our students have done just that. Well done, Wesley!

Undefeated. Unstoppable. Halfway through the APS Football season and the Wesley Girls Firsts haven't dropped a game. Our side are raising the bar, and with one of the country’s most exciting young footballers, Zoe (Year 12), in our ranks, it’s no surprise.

An Under 18 All Australian, Zoe also plays for the AFLW GIANTS Academy and the Oakleigh Chargers and captained the Under 18 AFLW Academy team this year.

‘For me, leadership is about creating an environment where everyone feels supported and valued, encouraging others and helping them become their best,’ Zoe says. ‘Like every athlete, I’ve faced setbacks along the way, but they don’t define you – your response to them does.’

The third boarder from her family to call Wesley home - following brothers Angus (OW2022) and Hamish (OW2024) from their hometown of Wagga Wagga, Zoe has found that boarding has helped her balance her academic workload with her football commitments.

‘You have to grow up a lot and learn to manage things by yourself as a boarder,’ she says. ‘But at the same time, the support from mentors, staff and friends is unreal. It’s the community, and the fact that you get to live with your best friends, that makes boarding so special.’

There's much on the horizon for Zoe to look forward to – from the AFLW draft to studying Law at university. We couldn’t be prouder of her journey and how far she has come from her first days as a Year 10 boarder to now.

Keinosuke continues to make his mark as one of Australia’s rising baseball talents.

Last week, the Year 10 St Kilda Road Campus student represented Victoria at the Australian Senior League Championship in Sydney as part of the Melbourne Athletics team, competing against some of the country’s best young players.

While the team did not make it to finals, across six games, Keinosuke delivered an outstanding individual performance, leading his team in most major hitting categories, recording a battling average of .562, reaching base in two out of every three plate appearances and scoring a team-high 11 runs out of 41 total runs scored. He was also the only player in the squad not to strike out once throughout the championship.

With no major tournaments over winter, Keinosuke will now turn his focus towards an exciting long-term goal - earning selection for Team Australia at the U18 Baseball World Cup in 2027.

We look forward to following your journey, Keinosuke.

The day Wesley College opened its doors in 1866, Rev. Daniel Draper and his wife Elizabeth set sail from England aboard the SS London with the library of books purchased for the new school. What happened next was to become one of the most widely reported stories in the English-speaking world.

Over three days, Wesley students joined close to 5,000 other passionate musicians for one of the largest youth jazz festivals in the world, Generations in Jazz. Wesley was well-represented, with our impressive vocal ensembles and bands showcasing their versatility across the jazz spectrum. All our groups performed well at the competition, with the following groups receiving special recognition:

• Small Vocal Ensemble placed fourth of 25 groups and won the Best Soprano section.
• Peter (Year 12) was recognised as one of Australia’s leading percussionists and performed with the Division 1 Super Band.
• Isaac (Year 12) was celebrated as one of the most outstanding flugelhorn and trumpet soloists in Australia and performed with the Division 1 Super Band and in the Future Finalists concert, where he improvised superbly with the GiJ Show Band.
• Aydin (Year 11) performed with our Jazz Band in Division 3 and was selected as a Super Band finalist in that division.

Congratulations to our teachers and students who worked tirelessly in the weeks before the competition and throughout. The professionalism, high standard of musicianship and the joy of music-making over the weekend was a sight and sound to behold.

Keinosuke may only be in Year 10, but he is already a rising star in Australian baseball.

At the beginning of the year, Keinosuke represented Victoria at the Australian Youth Baseball Championships, leading the team to an incredible come-from behind victory to clinch the gold medal against an undefeated WA side. Stepping in as relief pitcher at the bottom of the second innings with his team 4-1 down, Keinosuke pitched an incredible four shut-out innings, striking out four and walking none as Victoria stormed home to win the championship 9-4.

In March, he was invited to play for Team Japan in the U18 Puerto Rico International Baseball Academy Tournament (PRIBA) 2026 in the US – one of the world’s premier baseball events. And at the end of April, the St Kilda Road Campus student represented Victoria at the U18 School Sport Australia Championships. Impressing both on the mound as pitcher and at the plate with the bat, Keinosuke was named ‘Most Valuable Player’ in Game 3 and helped Victoria claim the silver medal.

This week, he will compete in Sydney, representing Victoria once again at the Australian Senior League Championship. The winner of this national tournament will earn the right to represent Australia at the Senior League World Series to be held in the USA later this year.

Congratulations and best of luck Keinosuke. We hope you knock it out of the park!
