Thinking about studying mental health and wondering what it might cost? This guide is for you. π
Mental health qualifications appear on most states' Free TAFE and subsidy priority lists, so subsidised places can exist if you are eligible and can study on campus.
If you have already used your Free TAFE place, do not meet the criteria, or need to study online around work and family, a full-fee online option may suit you better. π» Our guide lays out both paths clearly.

Wondering if you can get financial help while you study? π
Austudy, ABSTUDY, and Youth Allowance are Australian Government payments that some full-time students may be able to access to help with living costs.
Whether any of them apply to you depends on your course, your study load, and your personal circumstances, and that is always a decision for Services Australia. What we can do is support you with the enrolment documentation you may need. π±
Our latest article walks through the basics and points you to the official information.

Meaningful work and a stable income can go together. Here is what the numbers say about community services. π°
Jobs and Skills Australia lists average earnings for community workers at about $1,688 a week, which is roughly $87,800 a year. Demand is strong too, with around 3,300 new welfare support worker roles added each year.
A qualification is the biggest lever you control. A Diploma can open case management and coordination roles that sit above the entry level.
