Alright MUSEXuals, our iconic Puffing Billy & Wright Forrest Hike is just around the corner – THIS FRIDAY, 19th September! Get ready for an unforgettable day of steam trains, stunning nature, and incredible company.

This is your ALL-IN-ONE ITINERARY & REMINDER POST for the day. Please read carefully and get ready for an epic adventure!

🗓️ THE ADVENTURE SCHEDULE 🗓️

MORNING: GETTING THERE
* 8:30 AM SHARP: MEET AT FLINDERS ST STATION (Next to the Police Box)
* CRUCIAL: We leave together for the 8:56 AM train. If you are late, we cannot guarantee you’ll make it to the event on time. Don’t miss out!
* 8:56 AM - 10:00 AM: Train journey to Belgrave (Belgrave Line)
* Remember your Myki with at least $11 for return travel!

MID-DAY: THE MAIN EVENT!
* 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Arrive at Belgrave &

FINAL CHECK-IN for Puffing Billy
* 11:00 AM: PUFFING BILLY DEPARTS! (Belgrave to Lakeside)
* 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Arrive at Lakeside! 3
HOURS OF HIKING & EXPLORING!
* 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM: CHECK-IN for the return Puffing Billy trip

AFTERNOON: HOMEWARD BOUND
* 4:00 PM: PUFFING BILLY DEPARTS LAKESIDE!
* 5:00 PM: Arrive back at Belgrave Station.
* From this point, the official MUSEX trip concludes. You are free to make your own way home from Belgrave Station.

MUSEX is kicking off our Semester 2 2025 Matching Program, and we are looking for past exchange students (OR those currently on exchange) to get paired with future exchange students going to the same university/country!

You will be paired with those seeking advice about the university you’ve been to, or general country related questions.

If you’re tired of the library and ready to swap city streets for stunning rainforests, then this one’s for you! MUSEX is heading out for an epic day trip to conquer one of Melbourne’s most iconic trails: the 1000 Steps Kokoda Memorial Walk!

Get ready to challenge your legs and lungs as we climb through the lush Dandenong Ranges. We’re talking towering trees, fresh mountain air, the sound of native birds, and that incredible feeling of accomplishment when you reach the top. This walk is not only a great workout but also a moving tribute to Australian history.

And because we believe every great hike deserves a great reward, we’ll be hitting up a local spot for some well-earned food and drinks afterwards to celebrate! 🍔🍻

This is your perfect chance to escape the city, make new friends, and create some unforgettable memories.

— THE ESSENTIALS —

📅 DATE: Friday, 12th September
📍 MEETING POINT: 8:30 AM SHARP @ Flinders Street Railway Station (outside the Police Booth, train leaves 9:16 AM if you do not show up for attendance at 8:30, we can’t guarantee you’ll make the group departure.)
💪 DIFFICULTY: Intermediate – It’s a challenge, but we’ll do it together! The views (and bragging rights) are worth it!
🎟️ COST: This trip is FREE to join!

— WHAT TO BRING —

✅ Your Myki: Make sure it’s topped up for the train ride (approx. $11 for a non-concession return trip).
✅ PROPER SHOES: This is super important! Wear runners or hiking boots with good grip.
✅ Water & Snacks: Hydration is key to conquering the steps!

Are you a MUSEX member?

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS, MUSEX IS BRINGING BACK ICE SKATING ❄️

Come down and join us for an amazing night in Docklands on the ice, all levels are welcome! (You will definitely see us falling over do not worry 🥲🥲)

This location is home to Melbourne’s ice hockey tournaments and is known for its amazing venue. It’s close to plenty of nightlife and has a cafe with drinks for purchase on site! We love our members so OBVIOUSLY we have to give you an irresistible deal!

Members: $15 tickets
General: $20 tickets
