Barista Club in action
Our Year 11 and 12 students are getting hands on experience every Tuesday morning, running a coffee service for staff and senior students.
From making coffees to serving customers, they are building real world skills like teamwork, communication and responsibility in a supportive school setting.
It has been great to see their confidence grow each week and the pride they take in their work.
Don’t forget to bring your keep cup or use a school mug

Year 7 Jackdaw Project – Coraline Comes to Life!
As part of our study of Coraline, our Year 7 class completed a Jackdaw project where we brought in items from home that connected to the story. From shiny apples and yellow raincoats to black buttons, tea sets, and even a creepy rat mask, our classroom was transformed into a real-life Coraline display!
Students were creative in finding objects that represented different parts of the novel, and it was exciting to see everyone’s interpretations. We were proud to share our display with visitors from across the school, and even some of the Year 10 students stopped by to have a look.
It was a fun and engaging way to bring the book to life, and an experience we will definitely remember!

Music is alive and well at South Oakleigh College!
What an incredible week it has been for our Music Program. After the huge success of our amazing concert earlier this week, the excitement continued yesterday as our talented Year 10 Music group, led by the wonderful and passionate Miss Neep, stepped into our college recording studio to professionally record three original songs.
A massive thank you to Scott and Jamie for their time, professionalism and support throughout the recording sessions. Your guidance helped create an authentic professional experience for our students.
Most importantly, congratulations to our Year 10 Music students who not only worked in a highly professional manner, but also performed like seasoned professionals. Their passion, teamwork and talent made us incredibly proud.
At South Oakleigh College, we are thrilled to see our music program continuing to grow and provide such outstanding opportunities for our students.
Music at SOC continues to thrive!

Our maintenance team here at South Oakleigh College may need to call in a surveyor to assess the damage after our Music Faculty shook the theatre off its foundations during last night’s “Eras Of Rock!” Concert!
With a jam packed, sold out audience, our incredibly talented students delivered an unforgettable night of music and entertainment. Featuring performances from our Concert Bands, Choir, Rock and Jazz Bands, Contemporary Ensemble, String Ensemble and Pop Ensemble, the stage was absolutely alive from beginning to end.
The energy, passion and talent on display made for a spectacular celebration of rock through the eras — and judging by the applause, the audience loved every second of it!
A huge congratulations to all of our performers and a special thank you to our dedicated music staff for bringing such an amazing event to life. What a night for the South Oakleigh College community!

Rest In Peace, Tony Delves. 🙏🏼With heartfelt sadness, we acknowledge the passing of Tony Delves on 23rd May.
Tony was the founding Principal of Huntingdale Technical School in 1972, the school community that would later become South Oakleigh College. His vision helped create an alternative and inclusive approach to education that was truly decades ahead of its time.
Through his leadership, generations of students and staff were encouraged to embrace creativity, individuality, acceptance and respect for others, regardless of race, gender or age. Many former students and staff went on to build successful and creative careers, carrying with them the values and opportunities that Tony helped inspire.
Beyond his remarkable contribution to education, Tony was a deeply loved father, mentor and member of the community.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, former colleagues and all members of the Huntingdale and South Oakleigh College community during this difficult time.
May he rest in peace.❤️
