Joy of the Earth Community Garden A community garden in Joy St, Frankston where the wider community is encouraged to participate in or Why not get in touch and come for a visit and a cuppa?

The site at JOY OF THE EARTH COMMUNITY GARDEN (at rear of Kindergarten, 15 Joy St Frankston) is owned by Frankston Council and used to be 4 dis-used, overgrown tennis courts. But with lots of hard work, and 5 years later, it is now a THRIVING Community Garden producing fresh, organic vegies, fruits, honey, herbs and flowers. As well as 70 very friendly members, 55 member plots and 6 Community Org

anisation plots, the Garden boasts a Rotunda which houses an almost fully equipped kitchen & pizza oven, bee hives, orchard, greenhouse, compost bins, worm farm, tool sheds, sensory garden, butterfly garden, herb garden, children’s area and toilets. To keep our Garden looking beautiful, we hold regular working bees and this is balanced out by social activities. With rising costs of fresh produce, people in the community are looking to grow their own food locally and cheaply and we at JOTE can help those who are not confident gardeners to develop skills while enjoying friendly company.

Spring is definitely making an appearance at JOTE! 💜🌸

Come along this Sunday for our Garden & Gather — a relaxed morning of gardening, catching up and getting a few jobs done around the garden.

🌱 Lend a hand with whatever needs doing
🌿 Tidy, w**d, plant and potter around
☕ Stay for a cuppa and a chat
🍰 Bring a little something to share for morning tea if you can

Everyone is welcome — many hands make light work, and there’s always a job to suit!

🚚 CAN YOU HELP JOTE WITH A DELIVERY OF CLEAN TOP SOIL? 🌱

Joy of the Earth Community Garden (JOTE) is looking for 15–20 cubic metres of FREE CLEAN TOP SOIL to help with our ongoing garden projects.

If you’re a landscaper, excavator, builder, earthmover or local resident looking for somewhere to deliver suitable clean top soil, we’d love to hear from you!

🌱 15–20 cubic metres required
✅ Clean top soil only
🚫 No rubbish, waste or contaminated material
🚚 Delivery vehicle must be able to access residential streets

Rather than good clean soil going to waste, help us put it to good use growing our community garden! 💚

What a difference a day makes! 💚

Stage 2 of our SIAG “Raising the Beds, Raising Participation” project is officially complete, with the Doable Support Services garden bed now raised and ready for its next chapter. 🙌🌿

Another garden bed made more accessible, easier to work in and ready for everyone to enjoy.

🌱 Stage 2 of our SIAG Bed Raising Project starts TODAY at JOTE! 🌱

Today we’re getting to work on raising the Doable Support Services garden bed, making it more accessible, practical and easier for their members to enjoy. 💚

This is another important step in our Raising the Beds, Raising Participation project — creating a garden where people of all abilities can get involved, grow, learn and feel part of our JOTE community. 🌿

We can’t wait to share the progress as Stage 2 takes shape!

When I spoke to Kate from Doable Australia- Thank you for sharing this exciting initiative.

As a disability support organisation, we are committed to creating an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming environment for all participants who are involved in the Joy of the Earth Community Garden. Raising our garden bed would greatly enhance accessibility for people with varying physical abilities, mobility limitations, and support needs, enabling more participants to actively engage in gardening activities with greater comfort, independence, and safety.
The Joy of the Earth garden provides valuable opportunities for our participants to connect with nature, develop skills, build confidence, and engage with the local community. Improving accessibility through raised garden beds will help ensure that these benefits can be enjoyed by a broader range of people and will support the garden’s vision of being inclusive for members of all ages and abilities.
We appreciate the work that has gone into securing this funding and would be grateful for consideration as part of the project.

Thank you for your continued commitment to making the garden an accessible and welcoming space for everyone.

There’s plenty of buzzing around the garden today as they visit the flowers, collect pollen and get to work doing what they do best. 🌸🐝🌿
