This was a fun project! 🍷
Sourcing historical images for the fabulous new Geelong wine store and bar Claret Wine | Shop & Bar (I’m clearly biased as it’s my sister and brother-in-laws new baby).
I found some wonderful images, but this one was the winner and is now sitting in pride of place watching over the quaffers.

Family tree and family history research can be funny, eyeopening and exciting. But, it can also be sad, confronting and frustrating at times.
There are many times when “brick walls” appear and they are just not able to be knocked down. There are so many possibilities for this: changing names and identities, moving states or countries, or simply an unknown.
Sadly, an “unknown” can also mean an unknown identity and a tragic demise that leaves questions unaswered then and now.

Getting ready for another big week of solving family history mysteries 🕵🏼♀️
I’m finding missing ancestors, researching family trees and also in the throes of writing the story of three generations of a family business. It’s a busy week, but it’s the bloody best and a privilege doing what I love every day.

In family history research we try to get the whole picture of a person or an event.
It can end up being a distorted view of an ancestor, depending on what we discover, but can allow us to gain a greater understanding about the person they were and the life they lead.
