Some of the main hormones involved are:
Insulin
• Controls blood sugar.
• High insulin levels can make fat loss harder by promoting tat storage.
• Excess calories, especially from processed foods, can worsen insulin resistance.

Cortisol (Stress Hormone)
• Chronic stress raises cortisol.
• Can increase cravings, especially for sugar and high-calorie foods.
• May promote fat storage around the abdomen.
• Poor sleep and PTSD/anxiety can keep cortisol elevated.

Testosterone
• Helps maintain muscle mass and metabolic rate.
• Low testosterone can make it harder to build or keep muscle while dieting.
• Adequate testosterone generally supports fat loss and recovery.

Thyroid Hormones
• Regulate metabolic rate.
• An underactive thyroid can slow metabolism, reduce energy, and make weight loss more difficult.
Leptin
• Signals fullness to the brain.
• During dieting, leptin drops, making you hungrier and slowing metabolism somewhat.

Ghrelin
• The "hunger hormone."
• Increases when dieting, losing weight, or sleeping poorly.
Estrogen
• Affects where fat is stored.
• Changes during menopause can lead to increased
abdominal fat and make weight management more challenging.

you've been training hard, eating
"pretty well", and still carrying weight around the middle, you're not imagining it. And it's definitely not a lack of effort.
Here's what's actually going on.
Your body changed, and the old playbook stopped working
As you move through your 30s, 40s and 50s, your testosterone gradually drops, you lose muscle year on year if you're not training to keep it, and cortisol from work and life stress makes your body cling to belly fat specifically.
Add in the fact that most fitness advice online is built for 22 year olds with all day to train, and it's no wonder the approach that worked in your 20s and not now.

The 3 biggest mistakes we see men make
1. Smashing endless cardio and skipping strength work, which burns muscle and slows your metabolism
2. Going too hard too fast, blowing out in 3 weeks, then stopping completely
3. Guessing at nutrition instead of understanding how protein, training and recovery actually drive fat loss for a man your age
The good news? When you train and eat in a way that works WITH your body, dropping fat gets a lot simpler. You stop fighting yourself and start making real progress.
We're putting together something that walks you through all of this, step by step, over 8 weeks.
Training, nutrition, and the education behind it, built for men who want real, lasting results 💪🏻.

At 51 years old, l've had my share of setbacks, injuries, stress, and challenges. I know what it's like to wake up feeling tired, unmotivated, and wondering if things can get better.
Fitness didn't just change my body—it helped me build resilience, confidence, and a stronger mindset.

That's why I became a Personal Trainer. I love helping everyday men and women, especially those in their 40s, 50s and beyond, regain their strength, improve their health, and feel like themselves again.
You don't need to be fit to start. You just need to start.

If you're tired of feeling stuck, sore, overweight, or lacking energy, send me a message.

Here is one my clients training on a Sat morning Doing some DB Renegade Rows with one foot on a wobble cushion.

• Core stability - your abs, obliques, and lower back have to work much harder to
stop rotation.
• Hip stability - especially the glute medius of the standing leg.
• Shoulder stability - the supporting shoulder has to control more movement.
• Balance and proprioception - improves body awareness and joint control.

• Anti-rotation strength - very relevant for sports and everyday movements.

51 and still training hard. But this isn't about looking like me.
Most men I work with in their 40s and 50s aren't trying to
become bodybuilders.

They want to:
V Feel stronger again
V Lose body fat
V Improve energy
V Move without aches and pains
V Feel confident in their own skin
Life gets busy. Work, stress, injuries, family, long hours... I get it.

My goal is simple: help busy men get fitter, stronger and feel like themselves again — without living in the gym or wrecking their body.
If you're 40+ and ready to make a change, send me a message with "STRONG" and let's chat.

Low energy isn't always from lack of sleep. Your body reflects your habits
- what you eat, how you move, and how you recover. Build strength through discipline: proper protein, hydration, training, and consistent rest. Stop relying on caffeine to fix what your lifestyle is breaking. Real energy comes from routine, not shortcuts. Stay consistent and your body will change.

Most people are still asleep, making excuses, scrolling their phones, saying they'll start Monday. But every Saturday session you do while others stay comfortable separates you from average.
This workout isn't just about muscles or calories.
It's proof you can keep promises to yourself even when you don’t feel like it.

The hard part is already here:
• getting up
• putting your shoes on
• walking into the gym
After that, it's just reps.
Train with intent today:
• every set cleaner
• every rep controlled
• every minute earned

You've already handled harder things than a Saturday workout.
So attack it. One hour of
discipline can change the whole mood of your weekend.
No waiting for perfect energy.
No waiting to "feel ready."
Start moving - and the motivation catches up after.
