Unlock the Future of Healing: 2026 International Virtual Scar Tissue Summit

Scars are far more than skin deep. Whether caused by surgery, trauma, or burns, they can restrict movement, cause persistent pain, and affect physical and emotional wellbeing long after healing appears complete.

On Sunday, 13 September 2026, the International Virtual Scar Tissue Summit brings together five internationally recognised experts to explore the latest research, clinical evidence, and practical treatment approaches transforming scar rehabilitation.
Christine Pope, naturopath, nutritionist, and past President of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS), will present Supporting Repair and Recovery with Nutrition, explaining the vital role of nutrition before and after surgery. She will outline the key nutrients needed to reduce inflammation, manage physiological stress, and optimise tissue repair.

Massage therapist and scar specialist Catherine Ryan, co-author of Traumatic Scar Tissue Management, will present The Science of Scar Tissue – Functional or Problematic, examining wound healing, factors influencing scar outcomes, and how manual therapy can improve both recent and long-standing scars.
World-leading fascia researcher Dr. Robert Schleip will introduce Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM), sharing evidence-based techniques for improving mobility, reducing pain, and promoting tissue remodelling.

Sports rehabilitation expert Selena Hagan will present Using the Myofascial Cupping Technique™ (MCT) for the Treatment of Burn Scars, demonstrating how negative pressure can restore mobility and reduce chronic pain through an inspiring burn-care case study.

Tania Shaw, Managing Director of Oncology Massage Training Ltd, will explore Post-Operative Scars and Scar Therapy, highlighting compassionate, trauma-informed care for oncology patients and the lasting effects of scars decades after treatment.
Designed for manual therapists, bodyworkers, and healthcare professionals, this online summit offers practical, evidence-informed strategies to improve clinical outcomes and patient care.

Join us online on Sunday, 13 September 2026.

Our bodies were never designed to sit at desks or carry the weight of a 24/7 digital world. This constant "on" state often leads to deep-seated myofascial stiffness that can be hard to reach with manual pressure alone. This is where the magic of the Myofascial Cupping Technique™ (MCT) comes in using decompression by creating space between the layers of skin, fascia, and muscle.

Below is an image of me over the weekend playing with my mobile Ultrasound machine that shows the layers from the epidermis down to muscle (Adductor Longus). I am forever amazed at the human body and love the evidence of science to show why the technique I created 24 years ago is so effective for manual therapists.

Video footage of this still image below shows a shear movement with the deep fascia layer when I applied an adjacent cup with a glide. Science is real! Cupping 'exercises' the deep fascia layer to reduce a densified state in the tissue allowing Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to do its thing in allowing slip/glide between layers
