📸 Event Recap: A big week for AIIA VIC!

This week we hosted two discussions exploring pressing topics in regional security and diplomacy.

"Is the Seabed a 'Battlefield'? Australia's Submarine Cable Challenge" co-hosted with the Australia India Institute and La Trobe University Centre for Global Security. It was an honour to host the Melbourne launch of 'Connected and Protected: Building Australia's Submarine Cable Resilience', published by the ANU National Security College. Thank you to our speakers Dr. Samuel Bashfield and Dr. David Brewster for sharing their insights on this vital issue.

"From Stadiums to Statecraft: The Role of Sport in the Australia-India Relationship" - A fascinating conversation on how sport is shaping and strengthening the Australia-India relationship, with Dr. Mike Moignard, Molina Asthana GAICD and Andrew Skillern. Thank you to Events Program Intern - Beth Ryan and Council Member - Prakash Mirchandani for their support for this event.

Thank you to our speakers, co-hosting partners and everyone who joined us for such engaging discussions — we look forward to seeing you at our next events!

MASTERCLASSES AT ICC 2026 ✨

This year's ICC is going deeper than ever. Across the day, you'll get 3 x 40-minute masterclass sessions, and here's the catch: you pick ONE per session, so 3 masterclasses total. That means you get to build your own personalised experience instead of sitting through a generic program.

Each round brings a completely different lineup of industry experts, covering everything from recruitment and networking skills to more specialised spaces like international law, AI in global affairs, aid and development, and modern security. Whatever pathway you're chasing, there's a session for it 👀

And to close out the day, everyone comes together for one final 50-minute session: "Launching Your Government Career", open to all attendees for a firsthand look into government graduate programs.
