As ๐ต๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐พ๐๐๐ comes to a close, we reflect on a week filled with learning, creativity, connection and meaningful conversations across our Aurora centres โค๏ธ๐ค๐
Guided by this year's theme, ALL IN, the children explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through a variety of hands-on experiences. From creating DIY boomerangs, golden wattle trees and kindness cards to experimenting with traditional dot painting techniques, every activity encouraged curiosity, respect and understanding.
Children also engaged with Aboriginal-inspired sensory play, nature-based art using sticks, leaves and herbs, colourful handprint artworks representing belonging, and explored traditional Aboriginal shelters through imaginative construction and play.
Through these experiences, the children learned that reconciliation begins with listening, learning and respecting the stories, cultures and contributions of First Nations peoples.
At Aurora, we are proud to nurture a sense of belonging, empathy and connection to Country, community and each other, not just during National Reconciliation Week, but throughout the year.

Ten years. A decade of mornings.
Thatโs what I find myself thinking about when I think about ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ค๐.
Ten years of small hands and big questions. Ten years of that laugh, the one that seems to arrive before she does and lingers long after sheโs left the room. Ten years of showing up, day after day, with a kind of quiet devotion that doesnโt announce itself, but is felt by everyone around her.
As our beloved Willow Walk Kinder Teacher at Aurora Rowville, Indika has woven herself into the fabric of this community in ways that are impossible to fully measure. What sets her apart is something that begins even before a child walks through the door. Indika reaches out early, building warm, trusting relationships with families and children before they start in her kindergarten, so that by the time that first morning arrives, it doesnโt feel like a leap into the unknown. It feels like coming home.
That is a rare and beautiful gift.
Indikaโs mindfulness is not simply a pedagogical approach, it is the very texture of how she moves through the world. It flows through her gestures, her listening, her presence. It is there in the way she pauses, the way she notices, the way she responds. She doesnโt practise mindfulness; she lives it, and everyone around her is quietly lifted by it.
She embodies our Aurora values of Connect, Care and Create not as a framework to follow, but as a way of being, instinctive, wholehearted, and unmistakably hers.
On behalf of myself and the entire Aurora family, thank you, Indika. For every child whose curiosity youโve kindled. For every family youโve reassured. For every colleague youโve made feel less alone on a hard day.
Thank you, dear Indika, for shining the light of Aurora to everyone around you. We are so deeply glad you chose us, and we hope you know just how much you are cherished.
Hereโs to ten more.

Yesterday across our Aurora centres, we took time to raise awareness for ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฒ through meaningful conversations, creative experiences and acts of kindness ๐งก
The children explored the importance of caring for others through discussions about kindness and inclusion, while also taking part in orange-themed arts and crafts activities to show their support and understanding.
At Aurora, we believe even the smallest conversations can help nurture empathy, compassion and a sense of community from an early age.

Eid Mubarak from our Aurora family ๐๐ค

๐๐ is a time to reflect on family, tradition, generosity and togetherness. While celebrating away from extended family can be difficult, continuing these meaningful traditions with her children here in Australia keeps those connections strong.
โGenerations, traditions, and love โ all in one moment with my grandmother.
While I miss celebrating with my extended family, here in Australia I continue these traditions with my children. Eid al Adha reminds us of generosity, sharing, and caring for others โ values we nurture every day at Aurora.โ
Wishing all families celebrating a joyful and meaningful Eid al Adha โจ

A few weekends ago, Aurora's leaders came together with one shared purpose: to help build our future. Not to review it. Not to receive it. To actually build it. The Purpose, the Mission, the Vision for the decade ahead, together, in real time, over two days.
We're often asked why Aurora invests so heavily in bringing our team together this way. The honest answer is: because the alternative doesn't work.
Strategy handed down from the top is strategy that lives in a document. Strategy built by the people who will carry it lives in the people themselves. That's a completely different thing.
At Aurora, we've always believed that the quality of a child's experience begins with the quality of the educator's experience. The same logic applies to leadership. If we want our leaders to be present, purposeful, and genuinely invested in Aurora's direction, they need to have had a hand in shaping it.
That is what our Leadership Summit was designed to do.
What was built together on 16 and 17 May will guide Aurora through the next ten years. And it will hold, because every person in the room had a hand in making it.

Today, our centres proudly took part in National Simultaneous Storytime ๐โจ
Together with children across Australia, we listened to this yearโs wonderful story, ๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐ข ๐๐ฐ๐ฐ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ข๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฐ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ณ, celebrating the joy of reading, storytelling and literacy through a shared national experience.
Following the story, the children extended their learning through a range of creative activities inspired by Luna Rooโs journey, exploring themes of courage, teamwork and determination in fun and engaging ways.
Moments like these help nurture a lifelong love of books, imagination and learning, one story at a time ๐

Behind the scenes at our 2026 Leadership Summit โจ
What does strategic planning look like when twenty educators are in the room?
It looks like this. Paper, post-its, and conversations that spill past the time allocated. Tables full of people who don't usually sit together, thinking hard about the same questions.
It looks like a room that takes the future seriously, and has a lot of fun doing it.

Two days. Twenty-six leaders. One Aurora.
Last weekend, our team gathered for the Aurora Leadership Summit, and I am still basking in the warmth of it.
We came to do something ambitious: to build Aurora's strategy for the next decade, together, from the ground up. Not handed down. Not consulted upon. Actually built by the people who live it every day.
What unfolded over those two days was more than I could have planned for. Honest conversations. Brave thinking. A room full of educators who deeply care about children, about each other, and about what Aurora is becoming.
To our 26 leaders, thank you. For your presence, your generosity, and for trusting this process. What we created together belongs to us as the Aurora Family.
The next chapter of Aurora has a blueprint. And it was written by the best people I know.
With love,
Sheela Edwards
Lights, camera, action! ๐ฌโจ
Our QV Kinder children had an unforgettable excursion to ACMI to explore the wonderful ๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐๐โ๐๐๐: ๐ถ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฆ! exhibition, celebrating 60 years of one of Australiaโs most loved childrenโs programs.
From stepping into the role of presenter, camera operator and director to climbing aboard the Rocket Clock and singing along to familiar songs, the children were immersed in a world of imagination, storytelling and hands-on play.
This interactive experience was the perfect example of learning through play, encouraging creativity, confidence and curiosity while giving children a behind-the-scenes look at how television magic is made.
