When Melbourne experienced a chilly blast with hail and a sudden downpour, the children at Kingston Kids embraced this as a fantastic opportunity to head outside! Outdoor experiences like these encourage children to explore their environment, build social connections, and engage their senses in meaningful ways. The simple joy of puddle jumping created opportunities for teamwork, communication, imagination, and fun ☔️🌧️

Kingston Kids had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration last Friday, filled with connection and joy. Families joined us for a special afternoon tea, where there was lots of laughter during the “Guess Which Mum” game and plenty of fun as children enjoyed doing nail polish with their mums and friends. It was so lovely to see everyone spending time together in our room, sharing smiles and happy moments.
Throughout the week, the children took part in meaningful activities to prepare for Mother’s Day. They created Mother’s Day flower cards using recycled plastic water bottles to make flower prints, encouraging creativity, sensory exploration, and experimentation with different textures. The children also enjoyed a handprint painting activity, allowing them to express themselves through touch while creating a special keepsake for their families.
It was a joyful week of learning, creativity, and love, ending with a beautiful celebration shared with our families.

🌍 Earth Day at Kingston Kids 🌍

Kingston Kids celebrated Earth Day across the week to ensure all the children were involved in the important learning and messaging around Earth Day.
The Prekinder children extended on their recent excursion to the park and used the leaves, bark and sticks that they collected to create true nature-based artwork 🌿🌱
The younger children spent their week working on a “turtle” project which included using recylced cardboard and other natural products. A team effort allowed the children to bring their turtle to life and decorated it with cotton balls and paint.

These experiences support fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, along with a real sense teamwork, collaboration and community.

Every little bit helps to keep our planet healthy! 🌍♻️

ANZAC Day recognition at Kingston Kids 🎖️
On Friday, the children across all rooms spent the day, learning about ANZAC Day and recognising and acknowledging the fallen heroes. We spoke about some things that we might do to acknowledge them, including making some ANZAC Biscuits and creating some poppies. Nicho, one of our educators, runs Art Class on Fridays so this was the focus of Art Class today. Even the educators got involved by making their own medals, with words that they associate with the ANZACs- bravery, honour, courage and sacrifice. LEST WE FORGET 🎖️

This week we take our classroom, outside! 🌿🍂
Our Pre Kinders celebrated the end of Nature Play week with a visit to our local park.

In this excursion, the children did a nature scavenger hunt, finding things that they could bring back to their classroom, they had a little rest at the park lying down on the grass and did some cloud spotting and of course, had fun using the equipment to play.

This is how we connect the children to nature and build their connection to the broader community.

It was a fantastic sunny day packed with fun, adventure and wonder, we can’t wait to do more of this in the coming weeks! 🌿🍂

To enhance and further enrich our program and to utilize our teams amazing skills, we have created extracurricular weekly activities for our children to engage in meaningful learning experiences.
Our Subject Matter Experts now run Nature Play Clubs, Dance and Movement, LOTE classes and Arts and Crafts Club
This is an overview of what we got up to last week... making Nature Suncatchers🌿, a collaborative mural of our solar system 🌌, greek lessons with songs and greetings 🇬🇷 and a dress up song of the Pearly Shell 🐚
So proud of our team and excellent participation from all age groups 👏

“It takes a village to raise a child.”

Community is at the heart of everything we do. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we create meaningful connections that extend beyond the classroom.

From welcoming families into our centres for special events and celebrations, to engaging with local schools, businesses, and community organisations through our Community Connections Program, we help children build a strong sense of belonging and understanding of the world around them.
Because learning is richer when it’s shared 🤍

Pre Kinder Emergent Inquiry: Bees and Insects 🐝🪲🐞
Stemming from children’s ideas & observations, based on what they have seen in the outdoor environments, comes our Bees & Insects Inquiry. One of the children shared their knowledge on Bees, pollen and bee hives, this initiated a series of observations and questions from the other children about bees, insects and where we might see these creatures. This led to our children being extra observant in our own outdoor environments, and finding lots of creeping, crawling and flying insects. And there the inquiry began! Watch this space for more play spaces and activities based on this PreKinder play and learning. 🐝🪲🐞

We understand that a child’s learning journey begins from the very start, and the early years play a vital role in shaping who they become.

Guided by the Reggio Emilia approach, our learning environments are designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning through play and exploration.

Our programs are thoughtfully tailored to each child, evolving with their interests while building essential life skills through a wide range of enrichment opportunities, from STEM and sustainability to mindfulness, music, and community engagement.

Because every child deserves the very best start 🌿

Kingston Kids has been thoughtfully architecturally designed to offer first-class facilities, surrounded by natural beauty and abundant outdoor play spaces.

Our light-filled learning environments provide small group settings, allowing for meaningful connections and personalised experiences that encourage each child’s exploration and growth.

Outdoors, our leafy playgrounds support year-round physical activity while fostering a genuine appreciation for nature. Children engage in hands-on experiences as they help care for our vegetable gardens and interact with our pets.

Both our indoor and outdoor spaces are intentionally designed to be flexible and inclusive, supporting every child’s age, stage, and individual abilities, creating a nurturing environment where all children can thrive. 🌱
