Ahmed had taken IELTS twice.
His essays (Task 2) were Band 7.
But his Task 1? Just 5.5.
Why?
He was misreading charts - describing the wrong trends, listing figures instead of comparing, and leaving out key details. His overviews were often incomplete.
This one weakness kept his overall Writing score stuck at 6.5.
We fixed it by:
✅ Learning how to spot the main features quickly
✅ Writing the overview first
✅ Comparing data instead of listing it
✅ Using a simple Task 1 checklist every time
Result? Task 1 went up, and his overall Writing score hit Band 7.
If your Writing score isn’t moving, even when your essays are good - Task 1 might be the reason.

Just a month ago, my student Birgit faced the same challenge as you right now: achieving a top IELTS score to start a new chapter in her life.
She needed outstanding results for her plans in Canada, and with smart preparation and the right tools, she achieved Band 9 in Listening and Reading, Band 8 in Writing, and Band 8.5 in Speaking!
👉 Read in the carousel how she did it.
Birgit’s advice? “Start writing your own essays early in the preparation process rather than spending too much time just reading model essays.”
