Y2IC's first Talent Show! πŸ’₯

Organised by our Creative Industries VET class, the afternoon featured everything from singers to comedy acts - and even our Principal took to the stage for a memorable rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star! 🎢

Most importantly, our talented students raised an amazing $370 for the Royal Children's Hospital.

A huge congratulations to our Creative Industries students for planning such a fun, community-focused event, and thank you to everyone who performed, cheered each other on and donated so generously.

Recently, we were lucky enough to welcome special guest CJ Jones, finalist on ABC's The Piano, to our school!

CJ not only shared his inspiring story and passion for music but also treated our students to a wonderful live performance. His talent, dedication, and love for music had everyone in the audience captivated.

A huge thank you to CJ for sharing his time, talent, and inspiring message with our school community, encouraging our students to keep persevering and chasing what they love. 🎹

Recently, a group of our students attended the Doing School Differently Conference in Melbourne, hosted by the Australian Association for Flexible & Inclusive Education. This conference brings together educators, youth workers and young people to explore how we can create more inclusive and flexible education for all. πŸ—£

One of the biggest highlights was seeing our students take to the stage to answer questions and share their own experiences and opinions of alternative education. We couldn't be prouder of the way they represented themselves and our College.

At Youth2Industry College, we know our students' voices matter. Opportunities like this allow them to be part of important conversations about the future of education, while connecting with others who are passionate about doing school differently.

A big thank you to the organisers for creating such a meaningful space for young people to be heard.

Connection was at the heart of last week's Community Session as we celebrated International Day of Friendship. πŸ“Έ

A huge thank you to our incredible Wellbeing Team for creating such a fun afternoon for our students. From movies and games to crafts and a photo booth, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

At Youth2Industry College, Inclusion is one of our core values. Creating opportunities for students to connect, feel welcomed and build positive relationships is an important part of nurturing a community where everyone feels they belong.

Thanks to everyone who joined in and helped make it such a great event.

This year, we welcomed a very special new member to the Youth2Industry College team - Seve 🐾

Over the past few months, Seve has been settling into life at Y2IC, getting to know our students, staff and school environment.

As our Wellbeing Dog, Seve is here to offer comfort, companionship and a calming presence throughout the school day. Whether he's greeting students in the morning, quietly sitting alongside someone who needs a little extra support, or bringing a smile to the faces of those around him, supporting wellbeing across our school community.

At Youth2Industry College, we know that learning can flourish when students feel safe, connected and supported. We're grateful to be able to offer another way of building those connections, and it's safe to say Seve has loved meeting everyone just as much as they've loved meeting him. We think he's already feeling right at home.

We're looking forward to sharing more of Seve's adventures with you 🐢

As part of their Numeracy studies, our Year 12 students recently visited the Science Gallery Melbourne to explore coding and drone technology.

Students used code to program and fly drones, applying mathematical thinking in a hands-on, real-world setting. It was a fantastic opportunity to see numeracy skills in action while engaging with emerging technologies. πŸšπŸ’»

A couple of weeks ago, our students came together for a fantastic fundraiser in support of the Cancer Council, as Y2IC held a Biggest Morning Tea.

Each House team was challenged to create its own unique fundraising setup, showcasing creativity, teamwork, and community spirit.

We were delighted to welcome some of our Board Members, who enjoyed visiting each House and experiencing the incredible efforts of our students. Following their visits, they awarded the following recognitions:

πŸ† Best Experience: Perseverance
πŸ† Best Decorations: Inclusion
πŸ† Most Unique Offering: Perseverance

The enthusiasm and dedication displayed by all House teams were truly impressive, and the event was a wonderful success.

We are also thrilled to share that we exceeded our fundraising goal of $500, raising an incredible $658.00 for the Cancer Council! πŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to our students, staff, families, and community members who supported this important cause. Together, we made a meaningful contribution while creating a memorable day for everyone involved.

Our VCE VM 1 & 2 students put their teamwork, communication and leadership skills to the test as part of their Personal Development Skills assessment.

Working in small groups, students tackled an escape room, collaborating to solve problems, think critically and achieve a common goal under pressure.

A fun and engaging way to build real-world skills while demonstrating their learning in action! πŸ”πŸ§©

Our VPC students recently stepped into the future of food during their visit to the Science Gallery Melbourne! 🌱🐜

They explored how sustainable food production is evolving, discovered the benefits of edible insects as a superfood, and even tasted them for themselves.

They were then able to create and market their own insect-based chocolate bars while learning how innovative food solutions can help tackle the challenges of a changing climate. 🍫
