Another project from my archive 🤍

A custom-made bridal set featuring a dress and a strapless top, made to my client’s exact measurements.

This project came with quite a challenge. The skirt had to be cut from a macramé lace panel in a way that allowed for only one seam. That single seam had to hold the zipper, secure the back of the dress, and remain almost invisible by matching the lace pattern as perfectly as possible.

I love the moments when sewing becomes more than just sewing. When every technical decision matters, and your goal isn’t only to make the garment beautiful, but to solve every challenge so well that no one ever notices it was there.

Working with plaid doesn’t have to feel complicated once you know the right techniques!

In this in-depth tutorial, I guide you through every step of the process, from preparing the fabric to achieving beautifully matched seams.

You’ll learn how to:
• check your fabric before cutting
• calculate and match the plaid repeat
• mark and cut each piece accurately to avoid problems later in the sewing process
• and assemble your garment so the pattern aligns naturally and beautifully

I also demonstrate one of the most challenging techniques: matching plaid when sewing a French seam. This method requires exceptional precision, and in the tutorial I share the professional techniques that make it much easier to achieve a clean, perfectly matched result.

These are the same methods I use in my own work to create garments with a refined, high-end finish.

A clean and elegant way to finish the end of a zipper ✨

Sometimes a zipper is longer than you need, or the end isn’t finished neatly during manufacturing. As a result, it can scratch your skin or catch on tights while wearing the garment.

In both cases, I recommend finishing the end of the zipper. It’s a small detail that gives your garment a cleaner, more refined look while making it much more comfortable to wear.
