On Tuesday, six of our students celebrated a very special milestone in their faith journey as they received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. ✝️💛
Surrounded by their families, friends and school community, our students took part in a beautiful celebration led by Father Joe. Through the Gospel of the Lost Sheep (Luke 15:3–7), they were reminded of God's endless love, mercy and forgiveness. And of the joy that comes from always being welcomed into His loving embrace.
We are incredibly proud of our First Reconciliation candidates for the reverence and thoughtfulness they showed throughout this important occasion.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the students and their families and thank Father Joe and Ms Anna for their guidance, care and support in preparing our students for this special sacrament.
May God's love continue to bless and guide our students as they grow in faith, kindness and understanding. 🙏💛

On Thursday, we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors from the Footscray Fire Brigade! 🚒🔥
As part of the Foundation Fire Education Program, our students had the opportunity to learn from the experts themselves. Firefighters Mike, Zac and Sam gave our Foundation students a fascinating insight into their important work and demonstrated how their fire truck is used to respond to emergencies.
Students were able to get up close to the truck, explore its equipment, climb inside and even have a turn using the fire hose! It was an exciting and memorable experience for everyone involved.
By the end of the session, our Foundation students could confidently identify the different parts of a fire truck, explain why firefighters wear protective gear and share important fire safety messages. They also learned how to help keep their homes safe and practised the important safety technique: Stop, Drop and Roll.
A big thank you to the Footscray Fire Brigade for taking the time to inspire and educate our students. We loved having you visit St Monica’s! 🚒💛

On Wednesday, our Foundation students took on a very important mission... attracting the bees! 🐝🌼
Our students worked together to organise a wonderful plant and bake sale for our school community. Proudly offering a range of delicious homemade treats including honey joys, cookies and cupcakes. There was truly something for everyone to enjoy!
It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm, teamwork and creativity shown by our youngest learners throughout the day.
All funds raised will go towards purchasing flowers and plants to support bees and other important pollinators in our environment. 🌸💛
Well done to our amazing Foundation students for helping make a difference! And thank you to the 5/6 Buddies, Ms Jodie and Miss Molly for your exceptional work and support throughout the day.

What a wonderful and busy day we had at St Monica’s today! We were honoured to welcome Deputy Premier Ben Carroll and local MP Katie Hall to our school to learn more about how we implement the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) program.
Ms Steph, our Mental Health in Primary Schools Leader, shared how St Monica’s takes a “whole child” approach to supporting student wellbeing and mental health. She spoke about the importance of equipping children with strategies to navigate challenges, including the growing impact of the online world on young people’s everyday lives.
Our students confidently spoke with Mr Carroll about the strategies they have learned through their sessions with Ms Steph, explaining when they use them, how they help and why these tools are so important to their wellbeing.
The Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative is a Victorian Government program developed by paediatricians, educators, psychologists, researchers and teachers. The program supports schools by upskilling experienced teachers to become Mental Health and Wellbeing Leaders, helping to strengthen schools’ capacity to support the mental health and wellbeing of all students.
Tune in to Channel 10 to see for yourself our wonderful school and teachers.
We are incredibly proud of our students for sharing their voices so thoughtfully and respectfully today.
