Weβre proud to share some wonderful news! π
This week at the National Local Government Awards in Canberra, Mayor Sophie Tan accepted our national award for Addressing Violence Against Women and Children.
We were recognised for our Walk Against Family Violence. Each year more than 1,000 people come together for the walk, and thousands more are reached through our posters, videos, social media and local newspaper.
Thank you to those who joined us and supported our stand in addressing violence against women and children, including our partners Respect Victoria, Safe and Equal, Women's Health in the South East, The Orange Door, Interfaith Network, Wayss, Wellsprings for Women Inc. and Victoria Police.
We look forward to walking with you again this year. π

Tomorrow is World Refugee Day. It's a time honour the strength, resilience and contributions of people who have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety.
Greater Dandenong is one of Australiaβs most culturally diverse communities, and that diversity is our strength.
Many of our residents have lived experience as refugees and have helped shape our city into the vibrant, welcoming place it is today.
Tomorrow, and every day, we stand together as a community, celebrating the strength and contributions of refugees who call Greater Dandenong home.

Work on the Biscuit Tin Project continues. πͺ
This month a group of women discussed their experiences of gendered ageism and what respect feels like as we age. We are working towards our Recipes for Respect resource, which will include special recipes, biscuit tins and short stories of respect in action.
This project will be launched in October during the Seniors Festival.
Sign up to our eNewsletter to see the project as it's released, greaterdandenong.vic.gov.au/living-well-greater-dandenong
The Biscuit Tin project is an initiative of Celebrate Ageing Ltd.
