Simply, let your body breathe. As it is.

I love the powerful practices of pranayama, of harnessing your breath, of using it as a tool to shift energy, to soothe, to invigorate, to quieten my mind.

But to just let your body breathe, without control, without effort to change it —
When it’s short and choppy.
When it’s deep and smooth.
When it’s somewhere in-between.
When you’re anxious.
When you’re chilled.
When you’re tired.
When you’re well-rested.
When you’re excited.
When you’re meh.

Watching, feeling, being.

Magic.

Do you get attached to your favourite teachers? Not wanting to try anyone new? I do, too 😅

Being in a new city (new everything) has forced me to get out of this, lest I never practice in a studio again! And, it’s been fun! Finding new places, new people, some great classes, some okay ones (it’s all part of the practice).

You’re not cheating on your favourite teacher if you go to another class. And if you cancel because someone you don’t know is covering, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Who knows, maybe you’ll find another great teacher! At the very least, you’ll never regret moving your body, shifting energy and opening yourself up to something new.

I’ve been practicing the past few weeks. Like, really practicing. Going to classes. Switching off “teacher mode”. Doing it for me. And it’s been magic ✨

And not in the “love and light” kinda way ( don’t even ✋🏼). In the getting-into-myself kinda way. Moving through the murkiness, anxiety, restlessness, excitement and all the feelings passing through me as I navigate ch-ch-ch-changes (again!).

I love coming home to Melbourne, but it’s bittersweet. A reminder of the love here that will always bring me back. But for now, its time to move onwards and upwards (and sideways) 🌞
