Martial arts - movement - mindfulness. Grounded in traditional budo and yoga principles. To share the journey with others. In budo,

Cyril

Focused on a personal exploration of body, mind and art; with the overarching goal of genuine self exploration through practice...

For every body and mind.

_/\_ I feel that achieving the highest goals of Budo and Yoga are not about replicating, copying, escaping or appropriating. It is not necessarily about fixating, competing, or learning all of the things. It is about increasing the connection

Stability of awareness, grounded strength. Unmoving in the vast oceans of phenamona.

A weapon is only of value when guided by integrity and love. Forged in training nestled in pure intent.

What kind of weapon should we strive to become in a world of disillusionment, loneliness and selfish agendas.

Sheathed, away from reactive hands, on the altar in plain sight. Devoted to nonaggression. Sharp, precise, fearless, balanced, willing to stand... Willing to fall. To be a fool. To stand again.

Reconnecting to our selves through sincere symbolic action. Movement towards the unmoved.

What is Budō for you?

Hmmmm ... For me, the essence of Budō is hard to settle on let alone express. It is martial Arts that aims to unify us with our highest potential. A state of radical calm, open, sharp awareness, effortless skill, and wisdom - perhaps the culmination of all of these aspects is Mastery in the Budō sense.

Through highly intentional practice, an all encompassing ethos, and an uncompromising attitude one can transform every moment.

A practice characterised by the dissolution of automatic, habitual patterns - connecting fully with action.

Training so raw, so expansive, so repetitive, so specific, so soft, so still, so fluid, so expressive, so alive that we must go beyond our selves to succeed.

A practice that is balanced and considered from beginning to end.

Plato Said Knock You Out 02/02/2022

"The point is not to deny the more aggressive urges, but to give them a safe place to flourish. This weds impulse to achievement, and does so in an environment of relative safety. A punch in the karate school might have the same force and accuracy as a punch in a bar, but the former is thrown collaboratively, whereas the latter is an act of malice.

Put simply, exercise at its most virtuous is an enterprise of honesty: accepting the more destructive urges, and socializing them for the greater good. "

One week till the start of SOJ Kids at Science of JiuJitsu in Brunswick.

Very excited to share some of my favourite ways of moving and playing. BJJ is a wonderful system of martial arts that is open, creative, tough (and soft) and oh so effective. Lifetimes of exploration and refinement that doesn't feel forced. What a joy.

Classes for primary school aged kids. No skills necessary.

First week of Term 1 is free, timetable, info and trials available at https://www.scienceofjiujitsu.com.au/soj-kids

I feel that achieving the highest goals of Budo and Yoga are not about replicating, copying, escaping or appropriating. It is not necessarily about fixating, competing, or learning all of the things.

It is about increasing the connection to your body and mind through heightened awareness, stable subtlety and expressing single-pointedly. About finding the richness of experience through flow, joy, and effortless and spontaneous creativity and skill.

Sankakusu Budo is my personal project to embody the essential components of practice. To find true expressions of timeless wisdom, to openly explore even the most mysterious claims, to stay on the path in a world of distraction. To share the journey with others.

I invite you to partake, to challenge and discuss. There are many paths and we all start in a different place, therefore Sankakusu budo is pluralistic, personal and open to diversity. But it is also uncompromising, all encompassing.

In budo,
Cyril
