Philosophy is not a purely mental pursuit.

Philosopher and dancer Kimerer LaMothe argues that the core skills of thinking - paying attention, imitating, experimenting, and practicing - grew out of the rhythmic, social movement we call dance.

Drawing on evolutionary theory and figures from Plato to Nietzsche, she suggests that dancing is not merely an object for philosophy to analyse, but the very activity that makes philosophical thought possible.

To understand how we think, she argues, we need to pay attention to how we move.

Hello out there to the cyber world! It's been a while!

Just popping on to say hi, welcome 2026 - hope you all have enjoyed some sunshine and nourishing time with loved ones including many authentic embraces, tango ones or not!

Here at Tango Touch I'm very excited to get back to my own dance training and somatic research, tango private classes with beloved students who all occupy a small place in my heart, group classes held fortnightly at Montmorency Hub and my other work of biodynamic craniosacral therapy!
