WELCOME LAUREN

A bit of a late introduction for the wonderful Lauren who started teaching at Songbirds last term!

Lauren is an enthusiastic pianist who has been playing piano since age 4. She is a classically trained musician, who has completed her AMEB grade 8 piano and grade 4 theory examinations. She is currently studying at the Conservatory of Music in Melbourne and teaches part time. Lauren has been a piano teacher for almost two years, and she provides a nurturing and encouraging environment for students to enjoy learning music while having heaps of fun.

Lauren is available for both private and group piano lessons on Fridays & Saturdays 🥰

Our Principal KeyNotes this term are focussing on the story of THE GINGERBREAD MAN!

Within each of our workbooks while focussing on our core objectives such as keyboard geography, reading on the staff, posture, and rhythms we also focus on a special musical element. This term's focus is TEXTURE!

PRINCIPAL KEYNOTES - ESSENDON!!

We're so excited for The Gingerbread Man for our term 2 Principal KeyNotes classes in Essendon!

While still following the cyclical structure of the Principal KeyNotes level 1 or Level 2 Objectives, The Gingerbread Man Musical Element focus is on Articulation & Technique!

With the huge array of sounds and sonorities we can create on the piano, we use the story of The Gingerbread Man to think about articulation, and how to achieve it. Whether our pig is using a staccato articulation when he joins the race, or our Little Old Couple are using accents to show their anger, articulation helps us with our storytelling.

🎵 A very warm welcome to our new KeyNotes Instructor - Miss. Sam!

Sam is a multi-instrumentalist and has diverse music experience in instrumental music, music industry, songwriting, and theatre production!

Sam brings her bubbly personality and enthusiasm to lessons while approaching teaching by meeting the children where they are and in a relatable manner to foster the best environment for young students to grow their curiosity and meet their fullest potential!

We are so excited to welcome Miss. Sam to the team 💕

I always love how much energy and joy our students bring to each other while also building confidence - Maddy (in the middle) was so shy in her first lesson and would have really felt the pressure of a one on one environment, but the small group setting allowed her space while be able to connect with others and she was soon full of beans with a great enthusiasm for learning!!! 🥰
