📢 【BEFORE YOU FLY】Australia Pre-Departure Checklist & Essential Tips for AMET Students! ✈️🇦🇺

Are you getting ready to board your flight to Australia soon? Feeling excited yet a little nervous? To ensure a seamless entry through customs and help you settle into Australian life without a hitch, the AMET consulting team has put together this ultimate pre-departure guide!

Check off these essential items before you head to the airport:

📍 1. Travel Documents to Carry On (Do NOT Pack in Checked Luggage!)
Immigration and Border Force officials may conduct random checks upon arrival. Make sure you have physical printed copies of these documents in your carry-on bag:

Valid Passport (Must have at least 6 months of validity remaining)

Student Visa Grant Letter (Subclass 500)

Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

Accommodation Details & Airport Pick-up Confirmation

Original or Certified Copies of Academic Transcripts & Certificates

English Prescriptions for Personal Medications (if applicable)

📍 2. Luggage Packing & Strict Quarantine Rules
Australia has some of the strictest biosecurity laws in the world! When packing your bags, keep these rules in mind:

❌ Strictly Prohibited: Fresh fruits, vegetables, meat products (including mooncakes with egg yolk or meat floss), seeds, plants, unprocessed seafood, and undeclared medicines.

⚠️ Declare Everything: If you are bringing any food, tea, wooden items, or prescription medicine, you MUST tick "YES" on your Incoming Passenger Card! Declaring items may lead to them being disposed of safely, but concealing items can result in heavy fines or even visa cancellation.

💵 Cash Limits: Carrying AUD $10,000 (or equivalent foreign currency) or more in cash must be declared upon arrival.

📍 3. First-Week Priorities After Landing
Once you land safely, make sure to complete these important tasks within your first week:

📱 Get a Local SIM Card: Purchase a Australian SIM card at the airport or in the city center to stay connected.

🏦 Open a Bank Account: Visit a local bank branch as soon as possible to set up your account, and update your new address and phone number with your university.

🆔 Apply for a Tax File Number (TFN): If you plan to work part-time, you can apply for a TFN for free on the official Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website once you arrive.

🎓 Attend Orientation Week (O-Week): Make sure to participate in your school's orientation activities to learn about course registration, assignment rules, and campus facilities!

⚠️ AMET Consultant Reminder:
Safety always comes first! Keep an eye on your personal belongings and stay safe. If you encounter any unexpected issues with customs, housing, or university enrollment upon arrival, remember that AMET is always here to support you!

Safe travels, and we wish you an incredible study journey in Australia!

📲 Feel free to direct message the AMET team if you have any last-minute questions before flying!
