Last Wednesday, 10 June, our Year 12 College Captains and Deputy College Captains travelled to Perth for a four‑day exchange. Students were warmly welcomed by Perth host families and attended classes on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, the group visited Highgate, the site of the first school established by the RNDM Sisters. On Friday, they joined the College community in celebrating Sacred Heart Day.

Saturday saw the Perth students take our group to Kings Park before exploring the Fremantle Markets together.

Next week, our Oakleigh students look forward to hosting the Perth visitors, along with students from New Zealand, as the exchange continues.

The VCE VM students successfully launched Heart and Brew, a student-run cafe for Sacred Heart Girls College staff. As an integrated project across multiple VCE VM subjects, students applied their learning in a real-world setting while developing teamwork, communication, customer service and business skills. The café has been a fantastic success and a valuable learning experience.

Our Year 10 Real World Ready Students recently visited the Road to Zero experience at the Melbourne Museum. Through interactive activities and real-life scenarios, students explored road safety, responsible decision-making and the impact our choices can have on ourselves and others. This engaging experience encouraged students to think about how we can all contribute to safer roads and become responsible road users.

Sacred Heart Girls' College marked National Reconciliation Week with a range of activities that promoted awareness, respect and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. Highlights include the Indigenous Gardening Activity, The Sapphires Film, The Gift Stall and the Commitment Activity completed by every student in homerooms.

The Visitation Assembly marked an important feast day for Sacred Heart, the assembly also gave an opportunity to educate the community on the importance of everyone working together for Reconciliation with Australia's first people through participation in truth telling and speaking out against racism and discrimination.

Sacred Heart Girls' College is proud to actively participate in National Reconciliation Week 2026, embracing this year’s theme All in For Reconciliation with a commitment to learning, respect and meaningful action. Through student-led initiatives, fundraising stalls and community engagement, the College fosters deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.

This week serves as an important opportunity for our school community to reflect on the past, strengthen relationships and walk together toward a more just and reconciled future.

Earlier this month our VCE VM students went to Swinburne University in Hawthorn to get a tour of the facilities, a presentation on the various University and TAFE courses available to them when they finish at Sacred Heart and took part in a problem solving and teamwork challenge using Lego.

As part of their studies, our Year 12s designed their own scavenger hunt around the Swinburne campus for our Year 11s to complete.

Last night members of the College community gathered at the Sofitel for a celebration of Women in Leadership in Catholic schools. The key note address was delivered by former student, Fiona Hayes (SHGC class of 1993) whose incredible journey has her as the CEO of 7 Eleven.
