Australian guidelines say that preschoolers should be active for at least 3 hours every day.
Our expansive outdoor area provides endless possibilities for active play - including our interchangeable swings, modelled here by this budding gymnast! (Our 0-2 year-olds enjoy a separate play area with their own swings.)

On our final day for 2023, we'd like to wish all our children and families who are leaving our centre all the best for the next chapter of their lives. Even though it is sad to say goodbye, we feel confident that our children are more than ready to embrace the commencement of their school life.
We hope that you all have a wonderful, safe Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing the children and families that are returning in 2024. We will be back in a limited capacity from 8 January, with full service from 15 January. Until then, please take care over the holiday period.
Merry Christmas from NRCCC!

Yesterday, we had an incursion from Little Wombats Program where we explored Australian animals and their indigenous names. We listened to the sounds of a didgeridoo while also pretending to be some of the animals we had talked about. We finished the experience with an art and craft activity.

The sun was shining today, leading our kinder children to become curious about shadows. We explored different resources in the yard and the shapes their shadows made, tracing and copying the shadows with chalk.

This week our kinder children spent a long time engaged at the sensory table with “science experiments”. Their experiments involved using the droppers to transfer the water from jar to pot or pot to bowl. Items were traded and turns were taken, with the children doing this calmly and respectfully.

Using an overhead projector to project their name onto the roof is a fun way for children to experience science concepts like light and shadow.

As part of our Sport Week celebrations, we enjoyed a special footy-inspired lunch, alfresco! It's yet another perk of having an expansive outdoor play area.
We wish everyone in our community a lovely long weekend.

Our kinder children are enjoying playing with new resources like these learning rods, which help develop motor skills and logical thinking, and provide the foundation for more advanced mathematical understanding.
Children can create the shapes in the template or engage in open-ended play. We're very impressed with the designs created so far!

Yesterday was a perfect day for a stomp in the mud!
The children of NRCCC enjoy regular visits to the open space of Wurundjeri country thanks to our privileged position beside Norwood Reserve. Register your interest in our 2024 kinder program today!
