The first time you work from new client in construction is always a role of the dice.

Are they the genuine good bloke they seem to be?

Or are they the wolf in sheep's clothing, gearing up to screw you?

Ask every other tray you see on their site:
- have you worked for this guy before?
- What are they like at paying on time?
- are they organised and have it together?

Look for red flags and green flags.

- Are they organised and have it together?construction is always a roll of the dice.

How many times have you said yes… when deep down you knew it should’ve been a hard no?

Saying yes to every client, every mate, every “quick favour” is how tradies end up overwhelmed and burnt out.

Reflection is how we learn and grow as adults.

So as you reflect, have you grown to where you expected to?

If yes, what allowed your success? Lock that in and repeat it.

So, as you reflect, have you grown to where you expected to?

Just because it feels like we're standing still sometimes, doesn't mean we are.

Reflect on where you were and compare that to today.

If it's still not where you wanna be, give us a call.

"Sometimes the best way to support your tradie isn’t with big gestures — it’s by making sure home’s a place they can breathe, recharge, and walk back out the door ready to tackle whatever the site throws at them."

But here’s the truth no one likes to talk about — every inefficiency on site, every late finish, every job that runs over… someone else at home ends up picking up the slack.
The kids still need dinner. The washing still needs folding. The bills still need paying.
And when it keeps happening, that extra load at home becomes the new “normal” — but it’s not normal. It’s a slow burn that chips away at peace, patience, and happiness on both sides.

The fix isn’t about pushing harder — it’s about building a business that runs efficiently so no one is carrying more than their fair share.

💭 We spend years chasing business goals, but how often do we stop and ask:

👉 “What makes your soul wag its tail?”

It’s a strange question, but a powerful one. The stuff that lights you up—surfing, building cubbies with your kids, cruising with the dog—those are the things that should shape your business goals, not the other way around.

At CSH, we believe your business should support your life, not swallow it.

So what makes your soul wag its tail?

Running a business is stress on another level.

When the buck actually stops with you.
And there’s no one else to take responsibility.

When getting it wrong doesn’t just mean a bad week.
It can mean the loss of your business.
The assets you’ve worked for.
And the real prospect of bankruptcy.

When failure doesn’t just cost a job.
It costs everything.

Assets.
Reputation.
Position.
Even your self-image.

That’s a level of pressure most people never experience.

Everyone’s had a bad boss.
If an employee gets fired, they can usually explain it away.

But if you fail in business, everyone knows it was on you.

And the worst part?

The people who were too scared to try will still judge you.

This kind of stress isn’t something you understand unless you’ve lived it.

So why point it out?

Because none of us are meant to carry this alone.

You need people you can speak to honestly.
People who don’t flinch when you explain what’s really going on.
People who understand the weight you’re carrying.

And the truth is, the only people who truly understand are other business owners.

That’s why a support network matters.

Not a networking group.
Not surface-level coffee catch-ups.

A community of people who’ve been in the arena.
People you can learn from, lean on, and hear say,
“Yes — this is normal,”
and, “Here’s how to steer it back on track.”

This isn’t about replacing friends or family.
They matter.

This is about adding another layer.
One built on shared experience.

If you’re turning over $1m+ and want that level of peer connection, one organisation I genuinely recommend is Entrepreneurs’ Organisation.
It helped me early on, and I still recommend it without hesitation.

And if what you’re really looking for is connection with construction business owners who understand both the industry and the pressure — that’s where we come in.

If you’d like support, reach out.
We’ll point you in the right direction.
