Socrates held that wisdom is ‘knowing that we don’t know.’
When we sit in the space of unknowing we become available to experience more information in a space of non judgement. The quality of being humble, thus not thinking of ourselves more highly or more lowly, creates the opportunity for us to accept our limitations and our mistakes. When we embrace all of who we are, the appreciation of the value of all things, drops in.
This journey sequence brings about an accurate image of our self knowledge while acknowledging and understanding others. It is not a linear awareness. But organic, rounded, aerial, and lateral. This is the journey of seeing ourselves truthfully.

How can we be authentically empowered??
Authentic empowerment occurs from within. It is not about the suppression of those around you. It is about empowering them.
When we envision the type of future we want four ourselves and truly feel the emotions of what it would be like to live this kind of life, you’ll begin to discover yourself making decisions to make it a reality.
When you are surrounded by a team, community, family, or friends who are taking action to create a loving healthy culture, whereby we feel a freedom to share our emotions, ideas, initiatives, then this culture transfers inwardly. It becomes our inner culture. And when we feel an inner creative which has the courage to take risks upon these ideas and inspirations, we can feel invincible. We can feel supported. We can feel safe. We can feel acknowledged. We can feel brave enough to walk our talk and know that we love our community and they love us in return. But it only begins with us surrounding ourselves with people who have the same drive to create this culture.

Gratitude ♥️
Is an incredibly powerful tool to shift overwhelming negative emotion.

It can be difficult to feel grateful when we are down in the dumps.
So a good way to begin the process of opening your heart,
is to feel grateful for the things in which you hold no negative feelings towards.
Your dog or cat, pet canary....

Once you feel comfortable experiencing this gratitude move onto those
experiences beyond yourself.
Dew capturing sunlight, the crisp morning, a hot chocolate....

Then once comfortable experiencing this gratitude move onto objects which annoy you,

like a tree which drops leaves upon your car, the ibis which tries to steal your food, the barista who took too long to make your coffee....
In these moments what could you be grateful for?
Stretch your mind.
Open your heart...

The tree provides shade on a hot day. If it wasn’t there the street, or yard would look empty,
the ibis clears away a left over food scraps in the park, there is no room for rats, I can share my food with nature,
the barista gave me a moment to collect myself and thoughts before I rushed to work, I had the opportunity to be still, ......

You will begin to experience the abundance in your life. All that you have. Not what you don’t have.
The appreciation of what surrounds you and how you are held by nature,
the movement of life, and the little moments which may pass you by unseen.

It wasn't until I discovered these techniques that I finally began to realise I had been living a lie.
It was as though I had been walking around for most of my life with my eyes closed, blaming everyone else for my problems. But then suddenly I realised the problem was right under my nose. And so was the solution.

Finally with these simple techniques, I began to live the life I knew I always deserved.

Dee and Trace have been researching and Soul searching to finally reveal what they have witnessed to be some of the most transforming techniques around.

Do you believe me when I say that you’ll discover gold behind that which you feel angry or ashamed about?

When I realised that my shame, my frustration, my lack of self worth stemmed from being abandoned by my father figures, - I realised I was also abandoning myself. I wasn’t taking responsibility for my own lack of care. I had to accept that all of my expectations which I was projecting onto my father, would not be obtained.
So it was time I turned inwards. When I faced these feelings, I became conscious of how I reacted when I felt them. There is nothing wrong with feeling these feelings, it’s a matter of what you do with them.
And so I asked myself, ‘when you are feeling angry, what do you need?’ ‘When you feel shame, what do you need?’ And ‘what do you want to achieve when feeling these feelings?’

Many, many answers arose.
My sense of determination was heightened. My vision for my future became laser sharp. My passion reinvigorated.
My self confidence burst.
I felt empowered

And so I ask, are you ready to face your shadow? Are you ready to take full responsibility for the ‘whole you?’ Are you ready to discover your gold?

We all experience times in our lives when we feel ashamed to stand in our truth, or speak up when we feel something is wrong.

It can feel as though this aspect of ourselves won't be accepted by the ones we love. Maybe it is a part of ourselves which is out of control, a habit, or an addiction which we are wrestling to keep in control. An aspect of ourselves which we are keeping hidden from the world. A secret which we are maintaining.

This denial and cover up is really a fear of failure. A fear of rejection. A fear of being shunned by our community or by those we love. But really what we are fearing is our true greatness. Of living up to what it is to be great.

When we ask ourselves the question in the moments when our shadow is expressive, 'what do I truly need right now?'
The answer can sometimes catch you off guard,
because the deeper you listen, the more your authentic self is able to reveal itself.

When you learn to accept your authenticity the more empowered you become.

In 'The Selfish Retreat' we will run a number of workshops which offer guidance and support with processes that help you become more aware of your shadow self. Learn how to harness and take control of these qualities and step into your empowered self.

I’m looking forward to the adventure ahead and getting s% #* done ✅ Diary is already bought. But I’m holding myself back to not write the ‘To Do’ list just yet.
I’m super excited about a Retreat which Tracey Dwyer and I are in the midst of creating. It will be all about YOU and how we can be more empowered by understanding ourselves more deeply.
