After a wonderful time with Screen Careers, we’re saying goodbye to Jeanie Davison.

Esther and Denise have worked with Jeanie for many years - first during her time at Screenworks (Australia) and later together at Media Mentors Australia, so it’s been a genuine pleasure to have her as part of the Screen Careers journey during this important stage.

Jeanie brought huge energy, enthusiasm and belief in what we’re building for crew across Australia. She worked tirelessly to champion training, workforce development and stronger career pathways across the industry and has played an important role in the organisation.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed and we wish her all the best for her next role, which will be formally announced in the coming weeks. We know she’ll bring the same passion, warmth and drive to her new adventure.

As part of some exciting internal growth at Screen Careers, business development will now sit within Esther’s role, alongside expanded responsibilities across the organisation as we continue building the next phase of Screen Careers. We’ve got some big plans and we’re excited about what’s next.

Today we recognise Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) - a reminder that accessibility and inclusion should be part of every screen production, workplace, and story we create. 🎬

Building a more accessible screen industry means creating environments where disabled creatives, crew, and audiences can fully participate both on and off screen.

At Screen Careers, we’re continuing that conversation through our Digital Justice Lens eLearning course, designed to help screen professionals better understand Disability Justice and create more inclusive productions and workplaces.

🎓 Accessible online learning

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱… 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱?

One of the biggest risks on production isn’t lack of talent - it’s unsupported progression.

Across the industry, experienced crew are stepping into senior roles faster than ever. But stepping up without the right support can create pressure for both productions and crew.

Strong leadership doesn’t just happen on set. It needs to be developed before challenges arise.

Stronger supervisors create:

✔️ Stronger departments
✔️ Safer workflows
✔️ Better communication
✔️ More sustainable productions

Investing in crew development is investing in the long-term health of the industry.

In this session, we’ll break down how to get started, including:

• Creating a screen-ready CV
• Understanding crew agencies and how they work
• Building credits that actually help you get hired

Screen Careers is proud to support the launch of the Australian screen industry’s Mental Health Action Plan (MHAP), because workforce sustainability is fundamental to the future of our industry.

At Screen Careers, our work is grounded in building a sustainable, skilled and supported workforce. That means not only developing technical capability, but strengthening leadership, improving workplace culture, and ensuring crew can build long-term, viable careers in the industry.

The ACT NOW recommendations align closely with this approach. They recognise that better mental health outcomes are not a ‘nice to have’ - they're critical to retaining talent, strengthening teams and enabling productions to operate effectively at scale.

We believe meaningful change requires coordinated action across industry, government and training providers. We're committed to playing our role by embedding best practice leadership, communication and wellbeing principles into all of our programs, and by working with partners to deliver a more resilient and sustainable screen workforce.

We’d like to encourage colleagues and industry partners to join the online launch on 20 May at 12.30pm AEDT: https://www.screenwell.com.au/mhap?ss_source=sscampaigns&ss_campaign_id=69f98b8f2b91841bfd145701&ss_email_id=69fbd60f5c1de244689c2960&ss_campaign_name=Thank+you+for+becoming+an+offical+supporter+of+the+MHAP%21&ss_campaign_sent_date=2026-05-07T00%3A00%3A38Z

Big thanks to the amazing Screen Producers Australia team for another great Screen Forever conference this week. 🙌

We’ve been proud to be a sponsor of the event again this year and our Head of Business Development Jeanie Davison has really enjoyed being part of this week’s activities. Thanks to everyone who met up with Jeanie as part of the fun, fast-paced Launchpad session on Tuesday - speed networking at its finest! And to all the current and prospective clients who booked in for meetings to find out more about our increasing range of services and products in the crew training space.

It was also great to see some of our Board Members in action this week, sharing their experience and insights across key panel sessions, Adrian Swift (Expanding the Unscripted Ecosystem) and Will Hamilton (Serving the World: Positioning your company for studio service work).

Big congratulations as well to Will Hamilton and the BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand team for taking home Reality Series Production of the Year at the Screen Producers Australia Awards

And a special shoutout to Jackie Emery, whose project Tales From Outer Suburbia (Flying Bark Productions & Highly Spirited Productions for Australian Broadcasting Corporation) won Animated Production of the Year - amazing work!

This year’s conference marked the 40th iteration of Screen Forever - so we want to say a big Happy Birthday from all of us at Screen Careers 🎂🎉 ...and here’s to next year’s event!
