After taking several months off this year to travel around Australia I have had lots of time to reflect on my business and professional journey so far.

What has come from this thought process is the deeper understanding that I miss working in a team environment and seeing the wider impact I can make on one business and their leadership pipeline.

So what does this all mean? I have made the decision to head back into a corporate role and wind down Beehive Coaching & Consulting. I am so grateful for the past 3 years and have thoroughly enjoyed my time running my own consulting business, and the fun and challenges that go along with it.

To those of you in my business network (especially Emma McQueen (GAICD), and learning & development world that have helped me on the Beehive journey a very sincere and deepest thank you and appreciation. Without your mentoring, guidance and support I wouldn't have been able to get through the last 3 years!

To all of my past clients thank you for your support and trust in me to help grow your teams and I wish you and your teams every success in the future.

I am excited about the next adventure and will update you over the next few weeks once I'm settled in!

Wow how times fly's. I took just over 3 months off to travel with my family and complete a half lap of Australia.
We left Melbourne and travelled up through the centre to Darwin, and then across the Kimberley's to Broome and down the West Australian coast then back through South Australia.
So many amazing experiences have been had and beautiful places have been seen. I was able to tick off a bucket list item of swimming with turtles at Ningaloo Reef and revisit locations I went to when I was 15 and Oh how they have changed.

Lessons have been learnt, challenges shared and an abundance of family time has been had.

Lots of work conversations along the way. It's been fantastic to have in-depth leadership conversations in some of the most remote locations in the country. It didn't matter if we were in Uluru, Darwin, The Pilbara or Perth the same themes were being discussed and challenges being had by leaders for themselves and their teams.
I will write some posts shortly on these learnings and share some opportunities for development based from these discussion as well.

Till then, I have a caravan to unpack and emails to read.

Some months just don't deliver and that was April for me!
So what happened:

🤒 I was really sick for a good 3 weeks in April. Lots of time resting!

🎂 My husband and I both had birthday's - Cake is great medicine when sick.

🪄 I took my kids to the Harry Potter Exhibition. It was interesting, more so more me than the kids it is definitely more of an exhibition.

🌷 We went to the Tesselaar Flowers Farm festival. Beautiful flowers and a field of chilli's.

🌟 Great conversations with leaders around development and pipeline strategies for the new financial year.

👑 Thriving Women Masterclass - A great session with Emma McQueen

April certainly didn't go according to plan, but that is how life pans out sometimes. Now I've reset it's onto May and getting back on track!

🏕️ Labour Day Weekend - Spent some time away with family and friends. Always amazing to get out into the fresh air and have an opportunity to reset.

🌟 Meeting with clients - I had the opportunity to meet with lots of clients this month and discuss their needs for the new financial year. Interesting themes coming through. More posts on this shortly!

💻 Online Thriving Women Masterclass with Jane Anderson CSP on Content Creation. It was great to get some tips and strategy to make the process easier but also more impactful.

🏀 Kids have finished up their seasons of basketball so now we get a little break and sleep in on the weekends.

🤝 Cardinia Shire Council Jobs and Skills Showcase - Was great to meet so many businesses and chat about their leadership development and talk with job seekers to help with solutions for them to gain employment.

👑 Thriving Women workshop with Emma McQueen around Owning your impact. So beneficial to spend time with a group that have your back and together you can find solutions to make your little world a better place - thanks team!

March was a great balance in preparation for school holidays. Let the planning begin to try and get a glimmer of balance for April - Fingers crossed 🤞

Feedback form Clients ⭐

I love hearing back from clients I have worked with to hear the impact that it has had on their careers and lives. Knowing that I have been able to help someone progress in their journey is such a privilege and passion of mine and one I don't take for granted.

Seeing someone step into a new leadership role or their first is still just as exciting as it was 20 years ago!!

I know it can be tuff sometimes. Leadership is not easy - that's why it's not for everyone but when you get it and it works, It's the best role out there!!!!!

If you want to step it up in your leadership journey and need some extra support book in and let's have a chat about how I can help you - https://calendly.com/beehive-mel/coachingmeetandgreet

🚀 Have you got your Powerful Mentors for 2025!

Your confidence and ability in leadership grows when you have a strong support system around you. Make sure this year you seek out mentors and the opportunities to learn from those who have paved the way before you. Mentors provide valuable insights, guidance and encouragement. By surrounding yourself with experienced leaders you not only build the confidence that you need to excel in your next role you also grow your skill set along the way.

Look for mentors within your business, and your area of expertise. Also be open to mentors outside of your business and not necessarily within your field of specialty. Some of your best learnings with mentors can come from people who look at the world very differently to yourself. So try and choose a range of mentors that you will learn different things from to get the most out of the experience. Be strategic in who you choose and understand why you have chosen them.

💥 A great mentor can change the direction of your career with 1 conversation!

Feeling overwhelmed at work can often be caused by basic things from home that escalate over time or quantity.
Having conversations with your team and getting to the root cause of issues can often get team members back and performing simply by helping with ideas and solutions. Watch the video for a recent example I had - Who knew my experience with online grocery shopping would be put to good use while leadership coaching!!
