Hatred cannot coexist with love and kindness. It dissipates when supplanted with thoughts of love and compassion.

Loving-kindness is an ultimate form of generous and selfless love towards ourselves and others. However like Buddha said ‘unless we treat ourselves with love and compassion, we cannot reflect the same on others.’ And so once we start experiencing self-love and self-compassion for ourselves, we can show the same to others too.

Studies on how loving-kindness affect the brain showed that Tibetan monks who had over 10,000 hours of loving-kindness meditation practice had strangely secure neural circuits for self-understanding and empathy. They displayed a higher degree of self-contentment and inner joy than non-meditators or non-practitioners of loving-kindness meditation.

With love and kindness meditation comes self-compassion, increased focus and attention, and a deep sense of emotional strength that balance our thoughts and actions! 🙏🏼💕

The joy of yoga is staying in a particular pose with balance, ease and effortlessness. This is also called sthira sukham asanam 2.46, from the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali.

When life’s activities become easy and effortless, we’ve achieved a state of balance, mastery, and sometimes even excellence.
Effortlessness results from conscientious and consistent effort in learning and practice.

Ignorance makes anything difficult, learning makes it possible, and practice makes it easy.

We can't wait to open our doors to you again Docklands!

Given the fast pace and hectic schedules of most people today, it is the new normal to live with a base level of anxiety, stress, and unhappiness. You may not even realise it, but the tendency to get stuck into the past and the future can leave you perpetually worn out and feeling out of touch.

According to Psychology Today "The cure for this condition is what so many people have been saying all along: conscious awareness and a commitment to staying in the now. Living in the present moment is the solution to a problem you may not have known you had".

You might be thinking that this all sounds great, but what does it actually mean to “live in the present moment?”
Being in the present moment, or the “here and now,” means that we are aware and mindful of what is happening at this very moment. We are not distracted by ruminations on the past or worries about the future, but we are in the here and now. All of our attention is focused on the present moment (Thum, 2008).

Or as author Myrko Thum says:
“The present moment is the only thing where there is no time. It is the point between past and future. It is always there and it is the only point we can access in time. Everything that happens, happens in the present moment. Everything that ever happened and will ever happen can only happen in the present moment. It is impossible for anything to exist outside of it.”

You cannot see the bottom of a lake if there are waves and the water is muddy, but once the waves disappear and the mud settles down, you can see the bottom.

The mind is like a lake, and thoughts are like the wind, stirring the mind, as the wind stirs the water of the lake and creates waves. Only when the mind becomes quiet, you can see deep inside, think clearly, arrive to correct conclusions, and make right choices.

When thoughts run non-stop in your mind, they constantly pull your attention here and there, never allowing you to look deeper, but when the mind is quiet, it is different, since there are no distracting thoughts to pull your attention away.

It is only when can silence your mind that you go beyond the mind, understand it, control it, and enjoy inner peace. When you quieten your mind, you can go beyond it, and discover a world of calmness, happiness and power. 🙏
