Bayswater South Primary School Community Spirit Award

To mark 55 years of Bayswater South Primary School, BSPS will award the second Community Spirit Award to recognise current and past inspirational teachers, principals, support staff and key members of the community.

The award will showcase outstanding school and community contributions. Tell us about a person you feel has made a significant contribution to our school, either through improvement initiative, community spirit, student well-being with an aim to improve overall school performance.

If you know anyone you’d like to nominate, applications are currently open and will close on Wednesday 6th November 11:59pm 2024. Attached is a copy of the application form (and guidelines) or it can be completed online via https://baysouthps.vic.edu.au/community-spirit-award/

The winner will be announced on Spirit Day which will be celebrated on 22nd November 2024.

Thank you to angharad.nw for her beautiful work this week. The Mural Planning project and this first mural were funded by our dedicated Parents’ Club - so thank you immensely parents for your positive impact in our learning landscape.

To meet the brief, created in consultation with students, staff and parents, Angharad designed “abstract shapes combined with plants that are native to both Australia and Germany, as well as a variety of Australian Birds.”

We look forward to welcoming Indigenous artist Amanda Wright's Art who will work with students to create our second large scale installation during term 4, to finish our Indigenous Garden space also funded and planted by our wonderful community in 2022.

Champion- Community Hub and Meeting Place in our Neighbourhood

CHAMPION is extremely grateful for the wonderful support received from Bayswater South Primary School for our Winter food and toiletries drive. We filled our whole van with some excellent resources to restock our shelves! Thankyou so much to everyone who contributed!

Well done to our students for the contribution to Eastland’s most recent exhibition to celebrate STEM week!

What a truly unforgettable night! Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to all the vendors, volunteers, organisers, supervisors and our wonderful guests.

Picture this! The tantalising scent of popcorn and savory wurst wafting through the Food Hall, the mesmerising sight of snowflakes gently adorning our nearly-complete Indigenous garden, lantern crafting and cookie decorating, a bilingual Grade 3 classroom in action, the captivating moments of story time in the library, the incredible offerings in our market (gingerbread houses, plants, clothes, toys!) and German book shop – a rich tapestry of the things we love.

From 7.30pm, the air was filled with the harmonious chorus of children's laughter and the symphony of languages, as our lantern artisans led the procession through the streets enveloping the school. It was a night that celebrated unity, culture and joy, and we are thrilled with the success of our inaugural market.

A special shoutout must be given to Renee and her team of market elves, who masterfully conjured a sense of enchantment throughout the event. Thank you for creating a truly magical experience!

Our Parents' Club are excited to share that all the funds raised during the event will be dedicated to our community-voted fundraising initiatives. These include new line markings (including a chess playing board), wall murals, an outdoor table tennis table, and the imminent launch of our recycling and compost program. Your support is driving positive change within our community and we are incredibly grateful for your contributions.

'Twas the eve of Winter Markt, Bayswater South's delight, no creature stirring and stalls gleamed through the night.
Parents and helpers dreamt of joy and face paint so fair, smells of sizzling wurst and Kinderpunsch in the vibrant air!
The 730pm Lantern parade, a golden sight to see,
With kids marching with lanterns, hearts wild and free.
