🌸Haiku Uchiwa Making Workshop with Rina sensei🌸
Have you heard of haiku?
A haiku is a short Japanese poem. It usually has three lines with a rhythm of 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and 5 syllables. Haiku often captures nature, the seasons, or a small beautiful moment in everyday life.
In this fun and creative workshop, you will make your very own uchiwa — a traditional Japanese hand fan — decorated with your original haiku. It’s a lovely way to enjoy Japanese language, culture, and creativity all at once!
This workshop is designed for everyone, including complete beginners and those who have never studied Japanese before. Rina sensei will explain what haiku is and guide you through the activity step by step.
You will receive Japanese phrase panels with English translations and readings. You can choose your favourite phrases, arrange them on your uchiwa, and create your own special haiku. Rina sensei will also explain the meaning of each phrase, so you can enjoy the beauty of the words as you create.
At the end of the workshop, you can take home your handmade haiku uchiwa as a special keepsake.
Workshop Details
Date: Saturday 13 June
Time: 5:00–6:00pm
Price: $40, including the uchiwa

Coffee recommendation in Tokyo ☕️🇯🇵💙
東京(とうきょう)の コーヒーの おすすめ✨
I visited Blue Bottle Coffee in Roppongi last winter and totally understand why so many people recommended it to me!
Coffee culture wasn’t really a big thing in Japan before, but now you can find amazing coffee shops all over the country😳
There was quite a line when I arrived, but it moved surprisingly fast, and the coffee was definitely worth the wait 🥰
What made it even more special was the peaceful little garden in front of the cafe. Sitting there with a warm coffee, surrounded by momiji (autumn leaves) and koi ponds, felt like such a quiet and peaceful moment in the busy city 🍁✨

✨🎏 Happy Children’s Day from Japan! 🎏✨
Today (May 5th) is Children’s Day (こどもの日 / Kodomo no Hi) - a special day to celebrate children’s happiness, health, and bright future 💫
In Japan, families display koinobori (carp streamers) that swim in the sky, symbolising strength and perseverance - just like the carp that swims upstream 🐟✨
Here at the school, we’re celebrating with a little touch of Japan 🇯🇵
From cute decorations to cultural traditions, we love sharing these moments with our community 😊✨
Wishing all our students and families a day full of joy, growth, and inspiration 🌱✨

🍜 Ramen Recommendation in Tokyo – AFURI (阿夫利)
One of my must-try ramen spots in Japan - AFURI is famous for its light, citrusy yuzu-shio broth 🍋✨
It’s refreshing, beautifully presented, and never too heavy - perfect for lunch in the middle of a busy day or a gentle dinner 😌
I tried:
🥢 柚子塩ラーメン(Yuzu Shio Ramen)
🥢 柚子つけ麺(Yuzu Tsukemen)
🍺 柚子ビール (Yuzu Beer)
おいしかったです😋🍜
