Let’s be real for a sec. Unfortunately our field (ABA) doesn’t have the greatest reputation.
I know I’m not the only behaviour analyst that sees, hears, and has the same conversation with other health professionals and families about what ABA used to be and what it is now and moving toward, and I know I’m not the only one that it bothers.

So what can we do?

When I first started working in the industry, and received my first hate, I was terrified and confused, so I understand why families and other health professionals need a little more convincing. And that’s okay.
We have to stay patient.
We have to SHOW (rather than telling) what “new ABA” looks like.

Our field won’t change unless we make it. And I believe it is changing, because it already has from what it was.

So..
Instead of hiding what it is, bashing and being “anti ABA”, why not help push the ABA field towards compassionate care by having qualified professionals that have a client-centred approach, that use naturalistic environment teaching that is based on motivation and engagement!!!!!!

A bit about me.

I go by Stephanie ☺️
I started working in this industry nearly 10 years ago and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I have completed my certificate in Education Support, and Applied Behaviour Analysis, and Bachelors degree of Psychological Science. I am currently completing my Masters in Applied Behaviour Analysis at Monash University, eventually with the goal of becoming a BCBA 📚

Other than studying ABA and working in ABA 🫨 I love;
Being out in nature 🌳🧘‍♀️
Spending time with family, friends & my kittycat 🐈‍⬛
Exploring different hobbies 🔎

Creating motivating and engaging ways to encourage children to learn, play, & have fun is what I love most ♥️ Children will always do well if they can, it’s our job to teach, guide and understand all behaviour is a form of communication.

All kids need is a little help, a little hope, and somebody who believes in them 💙
