Turning off the screen is a leading cause of meltdowns for most kids these days. And it's a sticking point for most families.

Setting clear expectations helps kids. Setting them up before, during and after for success is one way they can enjoy some screentime without it having to end in screaming, crying and all the rest of it.

This works a treat for my kids. But full disclosure, we dont do much screentime. They dont have an ipad. They dont watch TV every day. And yes, I still get stuff done around the house. Most of the time they just play. Sometimes I need to set them up with an activity like playdough or potion making. And even still, when they do watch something, they have in the past had meltdowns, which is why I now prime them BEFORE any screen time with clear expectations to set them up for success.

Signing doesn't have to stop when your baby starts talking... they will remember and you can transition to them learning Auslan 🥰

We use Auslan in our family as the kids Nonna is deaf, so sign is a big part of our day to day. But I am yet to meet a kid that doesn't enjoy learning to sign. Big and small!
