MEET OUR MUSICAL THEATRE CAPTAIN Sydney 2026 - ZOE ZANTEY

We are so excited to announce Zoe Zantey as our Musical Theatre Captain for RISE CABARET - Sydney 2026!

A very special part of the RISE family, Zoe is an incredibly talented performer who leads with kindness, humility, professionalism and an outstanding work ethic.

At RISE, we believe in creating opportunities for young performers to step beyond the stage, to take on responsibility, develop as leaders and work alongside leading industry professionals in a supported, real-world environment.

Zoe embodies everything this opportunity represents, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her helping lead our Musical Theatre cast in Sydney.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ANNOUNCING OUR CABARET DANCE CAPTAINS ⭐️⭐️⭐️

We are so proud to announce Zara Julius 🐆 and KATIE CHALK as our Dance Captains for CABARET, our RISE Sydney 2026 Major Program.

At RISE, a Dance Captain is more than an exceptional performer.

A Dance Captain leads with kindness, generosity, work ethic, humility and heart. They lift others up, help create a positive and focused rehearsal room, and understand that leadership is not about being the loudest person in the room, it is about making others feel seen, supported and inspired.

Zara was an incredible Dance Captain for VARSITY in Melbourne, and we are so excited to watch her step back into this role for Sydney. She brings such beautiful leadership, maturity and care to the RISE community.

We are also thrilled to welcome Katie into the Dance Captain role for CABARET. Katie is an exceptional performer, and we are so excited for the energy, standard and heart she will bring to the cast.

These opportunities matter.
At RISE, we believe in creating pathways for young performers to lead, grow, take responsibility and experience what it means to contribute to a professional creative environment before stepping into the industry.

RISE JANUARY 2027. IT’S TIME.

Our 2027 Major Program is coming to Melbourne and this will be our most ambitious RISE program and production yet.
15–23 January 2027

January RISE is always something special. For nine unforgettable days, talented young performers come together from across Australia to train, create and perform alongside some of the country’s most inspiring industry professionals.

Our last Major Program brought performers to Melbourne from every Australian state.

An extraordinary line-up of mentors, choreographers and industry artists will be announced over the coming months.
New work. New challenges. New connections.
 …And a RISE production unlike anything we’ve done before.

GUEST PERFORMER ANNOUNCEMENT

We are beyond honoured to welcome the extraordinary 𝗗𝗘𝗕𝗢𝗥𝗔 𝗞𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗞 to CABARET, our RISE Sydney 2026 Major Program.

Debora is one of Australia’s most critically acclaimed leading ladies of musical theatre and an award-winning actress, with a career spanning over two decades across musical theatre, cabaret, opera, concert, television and live performance.

Having just finished the Australian tour of Annie alongside Anthony Warlow, playing the iconic Miss Hannigan, Debora’s incredible stage credits include The Producers, A Chorus Line, Sweet Charity, Cabaret, Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You, Billy Elliot, Anything Goes, Cinderella and Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour.

Her work has earned her numerous award nominations and wins, including a Green Room Award for Annie, a Sydney Theatre Critics Award for Sweet Charity, a CONDA Award for Billy Elliot, a Glug Award for Anything Goes, and recognition from Broadway World for A Chorus Line.

Deb is a performer of exceptional calibre… magnetic, hilarious, powerful, generous and deeply inspiring. Her presence on stage is unforgettable, and her ability to bring character, truth, humour and heart into a room is something very special.

For our young performers, the opportunity to work with and learn from someone of Deb’s experience, artistry and standard is truly extraordinary.

At RISE, we believe young people deserve access to artists who not only represent the highest level of the industry, but who also invest in, inspire and lift the next generation.
Deb embodies exactly that.

We absolutely adore Deb, and we feel so lucky and privileged to have her joining us for CABARET.

Announcing RISE Mentor - Maxwell Trengove

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Maxwell Trengove to RISE Sydney 2026: CABARET.

Maxwell is the Artistic Director of the Victorian Dance Festival and has spent the past seven years based in the UK, working as an Associate Choreographer across London’s West End, UK tours, cruise lines and major international productions.

His choreographic and creative credits include Peter Pan, Bring It On, Spotlight Bar, Robin Hood, Stage Struck and an exciting new work soon to open for Disney, Remember.

Maxwell has also had an extraordinary and varied career as a performer, working with artists including Cher, Kylie Minogue, Hugh Jackman, Lewis Capaldi and The Veronicas. His stage credits include the world premiere of King Kong, West Side Story, The Bodyguard, The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and the original London cast of Magic Mike.

Maxwell brings a wealth of international industry experience, creative excellence and professional insight to RISE, and we cannot wait for our Sydney cast to learn from him. He is such a positive force in the industry!

The One and Only…… TIANA VASSALLO ✨

We are so excited to welcome back the incredible Tiana Vassallo to CABARET, our RISE Sydney 2026 Major Program.

Tiana has been such a huge part of the RISE journey, and every time she steps into the room, she brings something truly special.

She is an exceptional choreographer, an inspiring mentor, an incredibly talented artist and one of those rare people who notices everyone in the room.

Tiana has a gift for creating work that is powerful, detailed, dynamic and full of feeling. Her choreography always brings out the best in our performers, not only technically, but in confidence, presence, artistry and connection.

She is funny, kind, generous, deeply inspiring to work with and so loved by the RISE community.

For CABARET, Tiana will once again be creating new work for our RISE cast, bringing her unmistakable energy, creativity and heart to the show.

We are beyond excited for another RISE season with Tiana.🫶

WELCOME TO CABARET, SAMUEL DOMINIC

We are incredibly excited and honoured to welcome Samuel Dominic to CABARET, our RISE Sydney 2026 Major Program.

Samuel will be joining us to create a brand new piece of work for the show, bringing his exceptional choreographic voice, technical eye and deeply refined artistic vision to the RISE cast.

An Australian choreographer, artistic director and educator, Samuel works at the forefront of the performing arts industry. Known for his musicality, emotional depth, precision and ability to elevate dancers, he is a highly sought-after coach and choreographer across Australia and internationally.

His work has been seen on stages around the world, including YAGP and Prix de Lausanne, and he has taught and choreographed for leading conventions including CYD Convention in the UK, KAIROS Dance Convention in New Zealand and the Australian Dance Festival. Samuel was also selected as one of six finalists for Australia’s Choreographer of the Year.

As a performer, Samuel began his professional career at just 16 with a secondment to Expressions Dance Company, before going on to perform internationally with Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line. His screen credits include Thor: Ragnarok and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Samuel brings a dynamic, supportive and disciplined energy to the room, challenging young artists while helping them build confidence, artistry and technical growth.

At RISE, we believe young performers deserve access to artists who not only challenge them, but inspire, support and empower them. Samuel embodies exactly that.

We cannot wait for our RISE performers to work with him and experience the standard, care and inspiration he will bring to CABARET.
