It was a special opportunity to recognise and celebrate the wonderful educators who bring so much care, passion and dedication to our centres each day.

A small gesture to say a very big thank you for everything they do to support, inspire and make a difference in the lives of our little niños.

10 YEARS IN THE MAKING: To mark a decade of Niño ELA Blackburn North, we turned 10 days into a joyful journey filled with laughter, connection, and memorable experiences. From enchanting encounters with our magician and delightful moments at the petting zoo, to dancing the day away at our disco dance party and embracing the excitement of our sports carnival, each day offered a new opportunity to come together and create lasting memories.

Across the 10 days, our little niños, educators, and families shared in the festivities, bringing the spirit of our community to life and making this milestone truly meaningful.

Looking back, we’re reminded that what makes Niño ELA Blackburn North so special is not simply the experiences we create, but the people, relationships, and cherished memories that have shaped our community over the past 10 years.

Here’s to a wonderful decade behind us, and an exciting new chapter ahead!

STORIES COME TO LIFE: Book Week is a celebration of the stories, characters and adventures that spark our imaginations. This year, our little niños and team stepped into the pages of their favourite books by dressing up as much-loved characters.

From familiar favourites to new ones, the centre was filled with colour, creativity and plenty of fun. It was lovely to see children and educators sharing in the joy of storytelling and celebrating the books that inspire us.

A LITTLE SCIENCE MAGIC: National Science Week offered our little niños an opportunity to explore scientific ideas through curiosity, experimentation and discovery.

One experience centred on a magic milk experiment, where milk, food dyes, and dish soap combined to create a mesmerising swirl of colour. As the colours moved and interacted, the children observed the changes and explored the science behind the reaction.

It was a simple activity that brought a sense of wonder to the room, making science feel engaging and accessible.

Over the years, our Blackburn North community has grown together, creating a place where curiosity is encouraged, relationships are nurtured and every little niño is supported to thrive.

From first days and new friendships to milestones, celebrations and everyday discoveries, it’s the people who have made this journey so special. We’re incredibly grateful to all the little niños, our wonderful families and our dedicated educators who have been part of the Blackburn North story.

PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS: Our toddlers have been building their confidence and independence through everyday routines, with each new experience offering a chance to do more for themselves.

From washing their hands independently to learning to drink from open cups, these moments are helping our little niños develop coordination, self-assurance, and a growing sense of autonomy.

With encouragement, patience, and plenty of practice, our little niños are becoming more capable of managing everyday tasks and embracing each new challenge along the way.

SMILES START HERE: Healthy teeth are an important part of growing, learning, and feeling our best, with our little niños welcoming a special dental incursion to discover more about looking after their teeth and the difference between ‘everyday’ and ‘sometimes’ foods.

They also had the exciting opportunity to have a dental check-up, helping make dental visits feel familiar, positive, and accessible.

It was a wonderful experience filled with learning, curiosity, and plenty of smiles — showing our children that looking after their teeth can be a positive part of everyday life.

CELEBRATING WHAT MATTERS: As Early Learning Matters Week draws to a close, we have been reflecting on the meaningful role the early years play in shaping children’s lives, nurturing curiosity, connection, and a lifelong love of learning.

To mark the occasion, we invited our team, children, and families to share what this time means to them through words, drawings, and ideas, creating a display that celebrates the unique perspectives within our centre.

From friendships and belonging to confidence, discovery, and joy, each contribution highlights the experiences and relationships that make childhood meaningful.

SYMBOLS OF CONNECTION: This week, our children commemorated NAIDOC Week through intentional experiences that honoured the rich cultures, histories, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Using playdough and sand, the children explored Aboriginal symbols through sensory exploration, carefully creating their own representations while developing creativity, fine motor skills, and early mark-making abilities. As they moulded and experimented with different materials, conversations unfolded around storytelling, connection, and the significance of First Nations cultures.

These experiences nurtured curiosity, respect, and cultural appreciation, supporting children to develop a deeper understanding of connection and belonging through play.
