Imagine With Scripture Providing PD opportunities for schools to incorporate imaginative prayer into their RE curriculum

I'm Carlie Anderson, an enthusiastic primary school teacher with a deep passion for Religious Education. I became aware of Imaginative Prayer during a Scriptural unit within my Masters of Religious Education Course and had an instant connection with the practice. I began leading Imaginative Prayer experiences within my own classroom and was so astounded by the depth of student responses that I dec

ided to complete my final research paper on the use of Imaginative Prayer in the primary school classroom. Inspired by the findings I am now determined to up-skill classroom Religious Educators so they can feel more confident and competent when engaging their students with the Bible.

For the last 5 years I have been invited to present to the First Holy Communion candidates and their families at St John's Primary School Mitcham, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Primary School Ringwood and St James Primary School Vermont. I continue to be inspired by the commitment and openness of the families and pray that their upcoming celebrations are a joyful continuation of their initiation into the Church.

After a long hiatus spent travelling the country in a caravan with my family, on Wednesday I had the great privilege of presenting to the families of Christ the King Primary School and St. John's Catholic Primary School as their young people prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was a fabulous evening and I very much look forward to working with the staff of both schools on several occasions in Term 2.
