Foundation Studies or pre-university studies is a program designed to qualify for undergraduate programs at universities.

Foundation Studies is a program designed to provide skills to international students to prepare for university studies. Students who successfully complete the Foundation Studies program and meet the relevant prerequisites are eligible to progress to the first-year undergraduate program at RMIT University or an equivalent program.

The Foundation Studies program at RMIT University is conducted by RMIT Training at our City Campus in Melbourne, Australia.

Meet Alysha Nizuaisham, a MARA scholar from Malaysia, who's made waves at RMIT and beyond! 🌟

Since childhood, Alysha was drawn to both art and programming. Discovering game development at RMIT was a revelation, allowing her to merge her passions into one dynamic field. Melbourne's vibrant indie game scene and RMIT's top-tier design programs sealed the deal for her.

During her time at RMIT, Alysha's journey was marked by standout achievements, including being awarded the Vice Chancellor Academic Excellence Award, a Program Award For Excellence, and Dean’s Award.

A standout moment for Alysha was her work-integrated learning experience with League of Geeks, a triple-I studio in Melbourne, which deepened her understanding of workplace culture and game development.

As an international student, Alysha's advice is simple: If you're passionate, go for it! Her journey wasn't without challenges, including navigating a new country during COVID times and battling homesickness. Yet, with resilience and support from friends, she overcame each hurdle.

Reflecting on her time at RMIT, Alysha wishes she had tapped into the university's resources earlier, like the design workshops and student activities, to foster a stronger sense of community.

Now, Alysha's sights are set on starting her own game studio in Malaysia, focused on edutainment, and contributing to the local game scene.

A year into the professional realm, Raffa, our communication alum, is soaring in his career. We caught up with him to delve into his journey—landing a role at the ABC just one year post-graduation.

For Raffa, the essence of his degree lay in understanding how diverse communication fields seamlessly intertwine. Graduating with a Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication) in 2022, he initially joined RMIT’s communications team. This experience provided an insider's view of the media industry's inner workings.

Working alongside two inspiring colleagues, Raffa contributed to crafting press releases and news stories from RMIT. Witnessing the entire process—from our pitch to various news outlets and the subsequent impact on storytelling—ignited his interest in journalism.

His year-long role at the ABC involves transforming stories onto digital platforms, targeting a new generation of news consumers. According to Raffa, news consumption has evolved significantly, and his responsibility extends beyond crafting stories to strategically reaching diverse audiences on various platforms.

This role aligns perfectly with Raffa's passion for news and current affairs in his home country, Indonesia. While he envisions returning to contribute to the communications industry in Indonesia, he acknowledges the versatility of his skills, allowing his career to explore new horizons.
