ποΈ From Obstetrician to Rotary Co-President: A Journey of Service and Impact
What changes when you go from thinking Rotary is an "old boys club" to becoming co-president within two years?
In this compelling conversation, host Lili-Ann Kriegler welcomes Dr Jillian Woinarski, who shares her unexpected path into Rotary leadership and takes us inside the Rotary Club of Canterbury's 26th annual Eye Ear mission to the Philippines.
From pioneering an innovative co-leadership model to witnessing life-changing moments in remote villages, Jill reveals what it really means to be part of a "doing club" and why a simple gift of a toy koala captures the heart of this work.
Discover what drew a retired obstetrician-gynaecologist with 40 years of experience to trade luxury for basic hotels at 5:30 a.m. starts, and why she believes the Canterbury club is attracting younger members when many clubs struggle with ageing membership.
If you've ever wondered what Rotary is really about, or whether you'd fit in, this honest and heartfelt conversation might just surprise you.

BE A SUSTAINABILITY LEADER!
LEADING CHANGE THROUGH TEAM ENGAGEMENT
Team engagement is the cornerstone of sustainability in ECEC β yet it remains the most common challenge identified in our 2025 data.
The Sustainability Snapshot 2025 shows that while educators are enthusiastic, coordinated action can be hard to sustain. Many services still rely on one or two passionate individuals to lead the work.
The shift from individual champions to collective ownership is where lasting change happens.
When every educator sees their role in the bigger picture, sustainability becomes part of the serviceβs identity rather than an optional project.
See what the data says about engagement, leadership, and shared direction β and where your team might stand.

BUILDING COLLABORATIVE EDUCATOR CONFIDENCE:
The Key to Embedding Sustainability in ECEC
Here's what we discovered when we collected data from300+ ECEC services about sustainability:
94% of you feel uncertain, inconsistent, or like something's missing.
Only 6% feel truly confident.
But here's the crucial finding: confidence isn't about having all the answers. It's about how your team shares knowledge and builds capability together.
The services that are transforming their sustainability practice aren't doing it with a single champion educator. They're doing it collaboratively through peer learning, mentoring, shared reflection, and leadership that models learning alongside the team.
When educators openly share their uncertainties, when experienced practitioners mentor emerging ones, when time is dedicated to collective reflection, something shifts. Confidence spreads. Sustainability becomes embedded, not added.
This is the difference between isolated effort and systemic change.
We've just released research exploring what builds collaborative educator confidence, why it matters for EYLF 2.0 implementation, and the practical strategies that actually work.
Are you ready to strengthen your team's confidence together?
