Oarsome Drive Child Care Centre

Oarsome Drive Child Care Centre We are a service that accommodates the needs of all children and their families and pride ourselves on flexibility, support and passion.

Toddler Room

Our Toddler room children are aged from 2 months to 3 years old. We have a capacity of 15 children per day with 4 caring educators. Our toddler room team leader has been employed at the service for 25 years. We are very flexible in this room and we provide a flexible and stimulating environment. Each child’s routines from home are incorporated into our routine to provide a high quali

ty of care. Educators in the room provide a number of activities for the appropriate age of each individual child. Educators work together with parents on their child’s development and independence skills. We also fund a music program that runs all year long on a fortnightly basis and all incursions within the service. Pre-Kinder Room

In the Pre-kinder room we work together with parents to extend on their children’s overall development. We have a capacity of 15 children per day with 1 Qualified Early Childhood Educator, this age group is from 3 years old to 4 years of age. Our aim for our 3 to 4 year olds is to extend on their self-help skills, social development and confidence with their peers and educators. We support the children by engaging them in play and allowing them to have a voice, visually and listening to their individual interest and needs. We also support their learning and transition up to our Kinder room working alongside the Kinder teacher to ensure a smooth transition and relationships with children are stable, supportive and flexible to the children's needs. Kindergarten Room

Our kindergarten room is run by our Qualified Kinder Teacher who holds a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education. This room can fit up to 15 children each day and has the 1 kinder teacher who works full-time running the program. All children are engaged in various experiences, incursions and excursions throughout the year. We also fund a dance program that runs all year long on a fortnightly basis. We believe these activities help children gain the confidence that is required for their first year of school. We also have a school readiness program incorporated into the program, which is set out to encourage children to be confident learners. We believe that your child’s social skills are at most importance in this year of kinder. Our aim is for the individual child to gain these skills by providing them with challenging activities, following their interests and learning through play.

Today our kinder children enjoyed a fun **Worm Hunt** sensory activity! Using tweezers and magnifying glasses, they searched through soil to find hidden worms, just like little scientists. This hands on experience revisited our recent garden learning and last term's worm farm incursion. Along the way, the children explored why worms are important for healthy soil, while developing their fine motor skills, observation, counting, and communication. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they shared their knowledge and discovered each hidden worm! 🌱🪱

Today, the children extended their interest in creepy crawlies during a special visit from Cheryl at Little Sprouts.

They explored earthworms, learned about worm biology, what worms can eat, and how worm farms turn food scraps into nutrient rich compost for gardens.

Using magnifying glasses, the children closely observed the worms and bravely touched and held them while discovering fun facts, such as worms having no eyes or teeth and breathing through their skin. The experience encouraged curiosity, sustainability and respect for living things.
