πŸ“šβœ¨ Book Week 2026 has been a wonderful celebration of books, stories and imagination!
Although our parade has finished, the celebrations continue throughout the week with plenty of reading, listening to stories, writing and exciting author visits on Thursday and Friday.
A huge thank you to our Library Captains, Bronte and Evie, whose idea to organise our parade around different book themes brought our celebration to life so beautifully! 🌟
Thank you to our wonderful staff, Mel Garbers for the fantastic music, our student ushers for helping create calm and quiet moments, and, most importantly, our amazing families for the incredible creativity and effort that went into the students' costumes.
Seeing our school community come together to celebrate books was truly magical. β€οΈπŸ“–
Thank you for making Book Week 2026 so special!

Hoop Time Basketball Competition at Jubilee Park
On Monday, our girls' and boys' basketball teams headed to Jubilee Park to participate in the Hoop Time basketball competition. Our girls' team was coached by Jarrod and Keil, while Luke guided our boys' team. The coaches were outstanding, supporting our players through each game and fostering sportsmanship and teamwork.
The boys had a strong day, securing a great win against St Thomas More and drawing with Overport. Although they did well overall, they did not progress to the finals this time.
The girls kicked off the competition with two impressive wins against Overport, Dromana, and Kunyung. Peninsula proved to be a very strong opponent, defeating MENPS in their match. Our girls made it through to the semi-final, where they faced a tough match against Mentone Grammar, who ultimately won.
Our students showed great effort and sportsmanship throughout the day. A big thank you to all the parents who came along to coach, keep score, and encourage the teams. Well done to both teams for their fantastic performances!

DIVISION BOYS NETBALL
On Tuesday 21 July, our boys' netball team travelled to Somerville to compete in the district boys' netball competition. The team played three half games against Boneo Primary School, St Macartan's Primary School and Tyabb Railway Station Primary School.
The boys got off to a strong start with a hard-fought draw against Boneo Primary School before securing impressive wins against both St Macartan's and Tyabb Railway. Their teamwork, determination and sportsmanship were evident throughout the day.
At the conclusion of the competition, the final standings came down to goal difference. Unfortunately, despite remaining undefeated, MENPS missed out by just one goal to Boneo Primary School.
While the result was disappointing, the boys should be incredibly proud of their efforts. They represented our school with enthusiasm, resilience and outstanding behaviour, consistently demonstrating our RISE values throughout the day.
A special highlight was receiving an email from a teacher at Boneo Primary School, who went out of her way to acknowledge and thank MENPS for the respect, sportsmanship and positive attitude shown by our boys during the competition. This recognition is a wonderful reflection of the character of our students and something we are extremely proud of.
Congratulations to all the boys on a fantastic day of netball and for representing MENPS so positively.

DIVISION GIRLS AFL
After winning the District Girls AFL Day, our Year 6 girls' team earned the opportunity to compete at the Division competition. The event took place last Thursday at Belvedere Oval.
It was a freezing morning, but the girls arrived ready to give their best. They played three games throughout the day. The first match was a closely contested battle, with Sorrento only pulling away in the final two minutes to claim the win. The girls responded brilliantly, winning their next two games convincingly with outstanding teamwork and determination.
The team has trained several times a week in the lead-up to the competition, and their improvement has been incredible. I am extremely proud of their efforts, resilience, and the way they represented our school both on and off the field.
A special thank you also goes to Ken, who coached the girls at both the District and Division competitions. We greatly appreciate the time, knowledge, and encouragement he gave the team, helping them achieve such fantastic results.
