Resource of the week - Pop the Pig 🎲🐷
A game that I didn’t realise was so widely loved and used - Now one of my favourites to use in sessions!
Not only is it fun, but it has many uses:
• Colour recognition: Name the colour of each burger. With only four colours it keeps things simple.
• Number recognition: Each burger has a number on the bottom. Practice identifying numbers 1-4 as you take turns.
• Turn taking: Roll the dice and take turns practising ‘my turn’ and ‘your turn’.
• Articulation: A quick way to get trials; Each number on the bottom of the burger represents how many times you need to say the target sound/word/phrase/sentence.
• Sentence structure: Create sentences such as ‘The pig is eating’ or ‘The pig is eating a (colour) burger.
• Describing: Describe the colour of the burgers or the size of pigs stomach.
• Vocabulary: Model and use words such as push, pop, eat, more, in, empty, full.
• Verbs: Great for targeting action words such as roll, pick, feed, push, eat, pop.
• Answering questions: Ask questions like; what colour did you get? How many times do we push? Where do we put the burger?
