One of the highlights of our week is our wonderful Soccajoeys program!

The children love participating in these engaging soccer sessions, where they build confidence, coordination, balance, and teamwork skills through fun and interactive games. Each session is carefully designed to support children's physical development while encouraging cooperation, listening skills, and positive social interactions.

Most importantly, the children have an amazing time staying active, learning new skills, and celebrating their achievements with their friends.

🐜🌱 ANTS IN OUR GARDEN! 🌱🐜

Our Tiny Wanderers and Little Explorers have been busy little scientists this week as they worked together to create their very own ant farm!

The children ventured out into our garden armed with curiosity and excitement, digging through the soil and searching for ants to observe. Through this hands-on experience, the children learned about where ants live, how they move, and the important jobs they do in nature.

Exploring the garden encouraged problem-solving, observation skills, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of the natural world around them. There were plenty of excited squeals as children discovered ants and carefully watched them at work!

🖤💛❤️ National Reconciliation Week ❤️💛🖤

This week at Chipmunks by the Sea, all of our rooms have been actively participating in National Reconciliation Week through a variety of meaningful art experiences. Each room created their own individual artworks while also contributing to collaborative pieces that celebrate connection, respect, and community.

Our children explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives through painting, creative expression, storytelling, and group discussions. These experiences provided opportunities for children to learn about Australia's rich history and cultures in ways that are engaging, age-appropriate, and meaningful.

Teaching young children about National Reconciliation Week helps build a foundation of respect, inclusion, and understanding from an early age. By introducing children to the stories, traditions, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, we support the development of empathy, appreciation for diversity, and a sense of belonging for all.

We are proud to create opportunities for our children to learn about reconciliation and to celebrate the world's oldest continuing cultures through play, creativity, and shared experiences.

Yesterday, Chipmunks by the Sea proudly hosted our very first Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea as a special afternoon tea event for our parents, guardians, educators, and children ☕🧁

Families were invited to grab a delicious sweet treat on their way out the door while supporting an incredibly important cause. Thanks to the generosity of our amazing community, we not only reached our target of $100 — we exceeded it and raised an incredible $140! 🎉

All proceeds raised will go directly to the Cancer Council to help support those impacted by cancer and fund vital research and support services.

We are so proud to come together as a community for such a meaningful cause 💛

Road Safety Week 🚦🚗

At Chipmunks by the Sea, our children have been deeply engaged in Road Safety Week, participating in a wide range of interactive and meaningful learning experiences designed to build awareness, confidence, and understanding of how to stay safe in our community.

Throughout the week, the children explored road safety concepts in hands-on and developmentally appropriate ways, including:

🚦 Learning what each traffic light colour means and how they guide our decisions as pedestrians and drivers
🚶‍♂️ Understanding when it is safe to cross the road using the “green man” signal and practising safe crossing routines
🚗 Engaging in creative play by using toy cars to paint and create vibrant road and traffic-inspired artwork
🎨 Expressing their understanding through art, drawing roads, intersections, and movement patterns
🧠 Participating in group discussions about “stop, look, listen, and think” to support real-life safety awareness

These experiences encouraged children to connect learning to real-world situations in a meaningful and memorable way. Educators supported conversations around responsibility, awareness, and community safety, helping children begin to understand their role as safe and responsible pedestrians.

It was wonderful to see such strong engagement, curiosity, and excitement as the children explored road safety in fun and creative ways throughout the week.

Chipmunks Chit Chat – Learning Korean 🇰🇷

At Chipmunks by the Sea, our Chipmunks Chit Chat extracurricular program continues to grow as children explore new languages and cultures in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. This term, the focus has been on learning Korean, introducing children to a completely new way of communicating and expressing themselves.

The children have been thoroughly enjoying a variety of interactive language experiences, including:

🇰🇷 Learning basic Korean greetings such as hello, thank you, and goodbye
🎶 Singing simple songs and rhymes to support pronunciation and memory recall
🗣️ Practising repeating words and phrases together to build confidence in speaking
🎲 Playing games that reinforce new vocabulary in a fun and low-pressure way
🌏 Exploring cultural elements such as Korean traditions, food, and celebrations

These experiences are designed to build early language awareness, support cognitive development, and encourage respect and curiosity for different cultures and communities. Learning another language at a young age also supports communication skills, listening skills, and memory development, all while fostering a sense of global awareness.
