LACKING MOTIVATION
Sometimes what looks like a lack of motivation is actually emotional exhaustion.
You can want something deeply........
and still feel unable to move.
Not because you're lazy.
Not because you've given up.
It's because you have been carrying things for so long that your internal system is simply tired and exhausted.
I think a lot of us spend years trying to fix our motivation when what we really need is to understand what has (is) emotional draining us.
❣️Recently I found I've been carrying too many things internally and for too long and the catalyst was when my beautiful dog, Foo become ill it toppled me over the edge.
My internal system had become overloaded with pressure, noise, suppression, and those deeply buried past unresolved emotional issues and conflicts....
I realised that I didn't need more motivation - what I needed was to quietly take care of myself and open my awareness towards those inner conflicts / issues.
We all have them - some more than others.
Awareness of your internal patterns and emotions can be such a powerful step towards growth and aligning internally.
Most people don’t recognize mental fatigue until exhaustion, emotional heaviness, or disconnection becomes difficult to ignore.
I've realised I don’t need more motivation - I need less overwhelming mental exhaustion.
What I labelled within myself as procrastination, as a lack of drive or declining interest was the consequence of my mind been overloaded with.........
Too much conflict.
Too many decisions.
Too much input.
Too many open past loops.
MENTAL FATIGUE disguises itself as a motivation problem......
And the danger is that I found that if you push too hard you respond incorrectly causing other pressures - misalignment within!
And it just adds more pressure to your already over stimulated, stressed out brain.
The turning point came to me when I started asking better internal question of myself:
💥💥I did the work, ignored the outer world and began questioning my subconscious mind...
"Am I truly unmotivated,
or am I mentally overloaded?"
This distinction changed everything for me.......
Clarity reduces cognitive strain.
❣️And importantly I learnt you need to regularly create space to just......
THINK...
RECOVER
and REALIGN yourself.
Quietly.....no pressure!
❣️And acknowledge that YOU are allowed to heal gradually.
Healing is not less miraculous because it happens layer by layer.
It happens when you realise
that you do NOT need to solve your entire future today to have peace now.
I know you want to move forward today, now, however, everything in you feels.....
Flat
Resistant
Emotional
And you feel disconnected.
People call it “lack of motivation” however, sometimes it’s just emotional overload showing up through your behaviours.
❣️When your mind says, “Everything is too much,”
Its time to ask yourself one question:
“What is the next right thing I can do?”
And that's where YOU begin.
Because motivation is rarely the starting point.
Your internal energy is.
And clarity and awareness is what unlocks it.
You have to build awareness and clarity of self....
To think clearly
To ask better questions of yourself.
And always be completely honest in your answers.
So you can make better decisions.
What also help me was having "Counselling" sessions so I can vent, unlock and release my emotional build-up etc.
You also need to understand that emotional exhaustion can manifest in many different ways.
Here are some common signs I know I've experienced:
💥PERSISTENT FATIGUE:
Feeling drained, depleted, or exhausted, even after resting or sleeping.
💥LOSS OF MOTIVATION:
Feeling hopeless, disconnected, or lacking enthusiasm for activities that usually bring joy.
💥REDUCED PRODUCTIVITY:
Struggling to focus, making decisions, or completing tasks.
💥PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS:
Headaches, stomach problems, or muscle tension due to chronic stress.
💥EMOTIONAL NUMBNESS:
Feeling detached, disconnected from others, or struggling to feel emotions.
💥INCREASED NEGATIVITY:
Developing a doom and gloom outlook, feeling hopeless, or questioning one's purpose.
💥WITHDRAWAL:
Avoiding social interactions, work, or activities due to feeling overwhelmed.
💥SELF-DOUBT:
Questioning one's abilities, feeling inadequate, or struggling with self-blame.
💥CHANGES IN APPETITE OR SLEEP:
Experiencing changes in eating habits or sleep patterns due to stress.
💥INCREASED IRRITABILITY:
Snapping at others, feeling short-tempered, or having a low tolerance for frustration.
💥💥These signs can vary from person to person, and it's essential to recognize them to address emotional exhaustion effectively.
Often the issue is not a lack of motivation — it is a build up of unresolved emotional patterns, unrelenting doubt and the crushing weight of expectation from yourself and others.
The hard truth?
Doing hard things actually makes your life easier.
Every time you avoid that internal conflict it builds up in your mind....
It doesn’t disappear.
It grows.
It gets heavier.
It drains your energy.
So find ways to you face it?
It doesn't have to be immediately - any step forward is a step in getting your power back.
So whatever you’re putting off today because it “feels hard” - do it anyway.
Feel the fear and do it anyway
