Bulleen Preschool acknowledges the Wurundjeri People, who are the traditional owners of the land in which we play, learn and grow.

Our innovative and exciting learning journeys, influenced by the Reggio Emilia experience, will encourage your child to discover themselves by exploring nature, materials and friendships. Our program embraces and values the cultural richness of Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

During Reconciliation Week the children have been learning how to use Aboriginal symbols in their art and story-telling.

"The circles are part of the land, the stones."

"This is my daddy, this one is me and this is my mummy. We are going to do hiking. This is the path to go. I saw lizard footprints."

"Mine is all about the moon and stars and Earth."

We read the indigenous book Cunning Crow by Gregg Dreise, which teaches us about envy, acceptance and feeling proud of who we are. In the outdoor environment children engaged in dramatic play wearing colourful bird wings.

While learning about road safety we have been discussing safe places to play. Do we play in the street? NO!
The park, the playground, our gardens and homes are all safe places to play.
The children drew houses, planted grass seeds to make gardens and created a neighbourhood.

May 11- 17 is National Families Week and this year's theme is Every Family, Everywhere.

Last night we recognised National Families Week by welcoming our community to kinder for "Family Night."

It was lovely to see the children so excited to share the wonder of kinder with their families.

ANZAC DAY

• Exploring ideas of care, community, and kindness

• Listening to stories in ways that are meaningful and appropriate

We learnt that red poppies symbolise remembrance for those who fought in wars.
"Anzac Day is when we say thank you to the soldiers who saved our lives."
