If repetition builds learning, it’s worth asking: what exactly are we allowing our children to practise thousands of times?

As children painted, they became deeply absorbed in the experience—listening to the sounds of nature, feeling the gentle breeze, and translating what they observed into their artwork. Their creativity flowed freely, resulting in beautiful paintings that they later proudly named, including The wye River, A Television, Seagulls at the Seashore, and A Sunset. Naming their artworks showed confidence, imagination, and a strong sense of ownership over their creations.

The children made a variety of cookies, including jam cookies, Nutella cookies, and Christmas tree-shaped cookies. When it came time to decorate, each child expressed their individuality. Every Christmas tree looked different — unique, special, and proudly their own. The children admired one another’s creations, noticing colours, shapes, and decorations, and celebrating the differences in their designs. ❤️
