This is exactly how it felt for me the first time I took ADHD medication. Rather than having to swim through mud to get my thoughts in order, I could just "do the thing". I'd never been able to just "do the thing" in my life before that!

I don't post much on here, generally because I'm hyperfocusing elsewhere (like teaching myself to make quilts). Actual content coming soon!

"I just need to be more motivated..." This is something I hear a lot, and it's not true. You're plenty motivated. Motivation is the desire to change something - whether that's putting the heater on because you're cold, eating because you're hungry, or getting that work done that you've been putting off.
Here's the issue - motivation isn't enough for ADHD brains. Wanting something, no matter how desperately, doesn't mean you can do it easily. And that feels like failure and laziness. We put a moral value on motivation that really shouldn't be there. Your ability to complete an arbitrary task does not dictate your value.
How do you overcome your "motivation issues"?
Excellent kitchen tips. I also find having open cupboards means I don’t forget that I own stuff.

I have 100 different things I can focus on regularly, but posting on this page is not one of them!
I should do it more.
I've just created a guide to an ADHD friendly capsule wardrobe. Is choosing what to wear an issue for you? Would you like it to be easier? Drop a comment below or message me to be the first to get my workbook.

Working memory and ADHD, now on the blog. This one is a big problem for a lot of us, but there are tools that can help.
Need help with your working memory issues? Send me a message.
Working Memory and ADHD Working memory is the ability to hold and manipulate information in your brain - for example remembering the beginning of a sentence by the time you get to the end of it, or remembering a phone number. Or, put simply, it's the information you're currently aware of in your brain, in any given moment.

Christina explains this really well.

I first wrote this post almost a month ago, but website difficulties and general executive functioning difficulties (irony!) meant it didn't get posted until today.
Heard of executive functioning but don't actually know what it means in real terms? Check out this post.
Explaining Executive Functioning When I asked ADHDers for their top issues, executive functioning came out on top.

I've been looking into website options again recently. The one I'm using isn't really working for me, but the vast array of options is causing me problems.
Yes, I want choice, but sifting through seemingly infinite options is exhausting, and hyperfocusing on researching features, costs and benefits is taking up far more time than it should.
This choice paralysis - being unable to choose for fear of making the wrong decision, or being unable to process all the options - is really common for those of us who are Neurodivergent. I'm going to be sending an email out about this. If you'd like to hear the best advice I've ever received about choosing things - jump on the email list.
