Drawing isn’t just about learning to make things look “right”. It’s about learning how to really look - to notice shape, proportion, space, light, texture and all the little details.

𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟮 builds on the foundations of drawing and gives you space to experiment, develop your skills and find your own way of working.

'My abstract paintings emerge from an enduring fascination with the natural world. They inhabit a space between observation and imagination, evoking landscapes that shift in scale and perspective—at times suggesting aerial terrain, at others the intricate structures of microscopic or underwater environments. Rather than depicting specific places, the works invite viewers to navigate their own associations and interpretations.'

What happens when you take cyanotype beyond the traditional blue and white print?

In 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲, we experiment with colour, layering, bleaching, toning, textiles and turmeric printing - opening up a whole new world of possibilities within this beautiful photographic process.

A hands-on workshop for artists who already have some cyanotype experience and want to push the process further.

𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 - 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗠𝗔 𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗢
Wilma Tabacco was born in the province of L’Aquila, Italy and has lived in Australia since childhood. She received a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University in 1972 and Diploma of Education in 1973. In 1979 she undertook a Diploma of Fine Art at Phillip Institute, Melbourne and whilst lecturing in painting and drawing at the University of Melbourne, continued studies at RMIT University where she completed a Master of Arts in 1995 and a PhD in 2006. Wilma has lectured variously in painting, drawing and printmaking at the University of Melbourne, Canberra School of Arts and at RMIT as part of the international programme in Hong Kong and in Melbourne.

She has received several grants from the Australia Council Visual Arts and Craft Board including a studio residency in Italy, and has also worked and exhibited in Seoul as the recipient of an Asialink residency in Korea.

𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨, 𝘎𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬: 𝘈 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 surveys the work of a new generation of Black artists, and also features the voices of a diverse group of curators who are on the cutting edge of contemporary art. As mission-driven collectors, Bernard I. Lumpkin and Carmine D. Boccuzzi have championed emerging artists of African descent through museum loans and institutional support. But there has never been an opportunity to consider their acclaimed collection as a whole until now.

Edited by writer Antwaun Sargent (author of The New Black Vanguard: Photography Between Art and Fashion), Young, Gifted and Black draws from this collection to shed new light on works by contemporary artists of African descent. At a moment when debates about the politics of visibility within the art world have taken on renewed urgency, and establishment voices such as the New York Times are declaring that "it has become undeniable that African American artists are making much of the best American art today," 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨, 𝘎𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 takes stock of how these new voices are impacting the way we think about identity, politics and art history itself.
