上星期六，小朋友玩得超開心！今堂我哋一齊認識唔同交通工具嘅廣東話名稱 🚌🚕🚋🚆，再揀自己鍾意嘅玩具車，由一個地方去另一個地方，一路玩、一路郁、一路學廣東話！💛

開心嘅唔止小朋友！家長一邊陪住小朋友玩同學習，一邊亦有機會同其他家長交流，分享小朋友學廣東話過程中嘅開心事、挑戰同小心得。🌱 大家互相交流、互相打氣，亦係 CantoSprouts 好珍貴嘅一部分。

🚗 CantoSprouts on the move! 🚎🚋

Last Saturday, our little CantoSprouts had so much fun learning the Cantonese names of different types of transport! 🚌🚕🚋🚆

They picked their favourite toy vehicles and travelled from one place to another, learning Cantonese through movement, play and imagination. 💛

And it wasn’t just the little ones having fun! Parents enjoyed playing alongside their children while also having the chance to connect with other parents and share the joys and challenges of helping their kids learn Cantonese. 🌱 It’s always lovely to see families learning from and encouraging one another.

Special credit to my boy, who came along to help with the little ones — and even became our photographer for the day! 📸🥰

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of joining Hazel at the studio for the Reading Matters Book Week Special, sharing our love of children’s books, storytelling and encouraging young voices. ❤️

This coming Book Week, I’m excited to bring Kam Chai and the Old Bakery to young readers through author talks and interactive story sessions at:

🏫 Doncaster Gardens Primary School
🌱 Doncaster Early Learning

We’ll explore Hong Kong culture, family traditions, bilingual storytelling and creativity — and most importantly, encourage children to discover that they can be storytellers too. ✏️📖

No prior Cantonese knowledge is needed — everyone is welcome! ❤️

🌱 【CantoSprouts 第一課！】 🐻💛

上星期六，我哋迎來第一堂 CantoSprouts！

小朋友認識咗故事主角 熊啤啤，仲同住喺月餅罐屋企嘅 金仔 同 Apollo 見面！透過故事 《Bear About Town》，小朋友喺 Discovery Tray 搵故事物件、幫 Apollo 搵啱玩具同禮物俾熊啤啤，並認識故事中唔同嘅活動。

之後，小朋友用棉花沙砌目標生字，獲得 「好叻！」 貼紙，仲即場練習同爸爸媽媽講：「好叻！」👏

每個家庭都收到 Ms. Liv 嘅 Welcome Letter 同 Apollo Mission Card，鼓勵返屋企後繼續喺社區同故事書入面尋找今個星期學過嘅詞彙，將廣東話帶入日常生活。

🌱 Our first CantoSprouts class! 🐻💛

Last Saturday, our little learners met Bear Bear Hung, along with Kam Chai and Apollo, who popped out from their mooncake tin home!

Through Bear About Town, children searched the Discovery Tray, helped Apollo choose the right toy and gift for Bear Bear Hung, explored different activities in the story, built target words with cotton sand, and proudly earned a "Ho Lek! (Well Done!)" sticker.

Parents also received a Welcome Letter from Ms. Liv and an Apollo Mission Card to continue discovering Cantonese words at home, in the neighbourhood and through books.

我會同家長分享 「想像小劇場（Imaginative Theatre）」，示範點樣利用屋企已有嘅物件，例如 🧺小籃、🧸公仔、🥄木匙羹、🍪曲奇餅罐、📦紙盒等，將故事變成充滿互動嘅親子遊戲。

我亦會示範點樣利用 屋企任何一本故事書，延伸成：
📖 親子廣東話對話
🗣️ 詞彙學習
✍️ 中英文書寫
🎭 角色扮演

希望每位家長返到屋企，都可以繼續透過故事同孩子玩、講、寫，令廣東話自然融入日常生活。

✨ Stories aren't just for reading—they can become magical moments of imagination and connection. 📚🎭

I can't wait for our very first CantoSprout session tomorrow! 💚

I'll be sharing our Imaginative Theatre approach, showing parents how everyday objects—like baskets, soft toys, wooden spoons, cookie tins and cardboard boxes—can transform storytime into interactive imaginative play.

I'll also demonstrate how any storybook at home can become an opportunity for:
📖 Cantonese conversations
🗣️ Vocabulary building
✍️ Chinese character and English writing
🎭 Role play

My hope is that families will continue learning through stories at home, making Cantonese a natural part of everyday life.
