Have you ever stopped to consider your own biases?

We all have them, and they can affect the way we think, speak, and act. Being aware of our biases is a crucial step towards developing critical thinking skills.

Some common types of biases include confirmation bias (seeking out information that confirms our existing beliefs), availability bias (overestimating the importance of information that comes readily to mind), and groupthink (going along with the opinions of a group without critically evaluating them).

In both IB English and in Theory Of Knowledge, we learn to identify and question biases in ourselves and others. By doing so, we can become more open-minded and develop a deeper understanding of the world around us.

What biases have you noticed in your own thinking?
