If your child is getting a BCG vaccine, check if they need a measles vaccine too! They can get the MMR vaccine the same day as BCG, or 4 weeks apart β
The number of measles infections is increasing in Australia and all around the world π π
For everyone born in 1966 or later, 2 doses of measles-containing vaccine are required to be protected π‘οΈ
βοΈ Infants as young as 6 months who are travelling are recommended to have an MMR vaccine.
ποΈ If they are aged 6 to 11 months, this will be an extra dose before their routine 12-month and 18-month doses
ποΈ If they are between 11 and 12 months it will count as their 12-month dose then they will complete their 18-month dose as normal.
βΌοΈ Reminder: both BCG and MMR are not safe for people with immunocompromise, or for pregnant people βΌοΈ

*** REPOST: Itβs been a couple of years now since we met Arexvy, and now, as of 15 May 2026, it is funded on the NIP for eligible older adults π₯³
βοΈ Weβve refreshed our Meet Arexvy post with updated information about vaccine recommendations and funding. Let us know in the comments if you have any questions π ***
π’ In January 2024, Arexvy was registered by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). It is available for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in adults 60 years and older (or 50 years and older and at increased risk for RSV disease) π¦ π€
A course of vaccination requires a single dose. Arexvy can be administered at any time of year and may be co-administered with other vaccines ππͺ
Common side effects include injection site reactions, headache, malaise and fatigue. These side effects typically last 1-2 days and can be managed at home with symptomatic relief π€
Arexvy is now funded on the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for all adults β₯ 75 years and First Nations adults β₯ 60 years πππ
